New HD Camcorder wanted

Hi,

I've been looking for a HD camcorder for a while. I have 500 pounds to play with and absolutely no more. I've seen the Canon HG-10 for 489.00 in Argos and although these we're going in Currys at 200 (didn't find one though) are they worth the money. I also note that it is end of line stuff but the jump to the next model is something like £200+

Looking at reviews on the net it seems to do everything I want but is there a better camera for the same or very slighty more?

Many thanks

Andy

Re: New HD Camcorder wanted

Hi,

I ahve the hg10 and find it great
- nice small unit with fantastic footage. If you are not into the latest and greatest - this could do the trick.
one note - have a read of threads about editing avchd v hdv files.
My pc is up to spec/date and edits the avchd fine but older pcs can struggle.

hope this helps.

Re: New HD Camcorder wanted

I'm looking at the just released Panasonic HDC-TM10 - the world lightest proper HD camcorder - £500. The TM10 has 8gb flash plus SD slot. Its SD10 sibling doesn't have the built in flash memory. Go to Play.com as they're offering a free 16gb card with either.

Thank God I didn't order yesterday. Price has dropped to £449 and you still get the free card. Yippee! Use the savings for a nice bag!

Re: New HD Camcorder wanted

Right. I think i've settled for a choice of Canon HG-20 HD camcorder, seems to do everything I want and has some pretty good reviews!

Does anyone know a good place to order one from seems dell are selling them at 580 all in any better deals?

Thanks
