Vegas upgrade direct from Sony - import VAT & customs?

Hi, I want to buy Sony Vegas 9 Pro as an upgrade from Movie Studio, and Sony are offering an upgrade price, together with Sound Forge Audio Studio.

It appears Sony only sell Vegas Pro from the USA, and VAT is payable whether I buy the boxed or download version... Apart from the £20 postage cost, has anyone got any idea if I get stung for any other extra charges (customs charges, or a VAT processing fee from FedEx - unless Sony deal with the VAT directly?), whether I buy the boxed or download?

And if I get the download, can I download on one computer and install on another, and create my own back-up disc? Thanks for any quick advice!

Re: Vegas upgrade direct from Sony - import VAT & customs?

I had to pay an additional £3.15 vat plus a clearance administration charge of £6.80, for my boxed Vegas 8 Pro. A total of £9.95. The bill was from FedEx. I recently pre-ordered 9 Pro ...entered all my details & payment info but so far have received nothing, I haven't been billed by sony either.

Re: Vegas upgrade direct from Sony - import VAT & customs?

Thanks Peter - is that all? FedEx must've got that wrong - and in your favour for a change! I'm reckoning 15% VAT on £341 is about £51, plus FedEx admin charge, plus possibly customs as well (can't find if that's charged on software or not) possibly £14? And £20 postage.

I've double checked with Sony and if it's boxed and posted FedEx charge and pay for the VAT - if it's downloaded Sony charge directly instead... think I may just go for the download.
