Do any HD Camcorders have an Iris Shutter effect rather than Rolling Shutter?

Just wondering if there are any HD cameras on the market that have a way of compensating for the rolling shutter effect.

Recently on a plane-flight I used a camera and was gutted by the effect, which makes the propeller look like floating lines in the air :

Airplane Prop + CMOS Rolling Shutter = *** on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I actually enjoy going to air shows and have been using a Canon XM2, so have not noticed this before, but now I have, fortunately it was my friends camera, so not an issue for me at the moment.

Now however, I am looking to buy a HD Camcorder and wonder what price will get me a piece of hardware that actually looks like the conventional shutter effect rather than this bizarre one illustrated above?

I have around £2000 to spend, but can wait a while and carry on saving towards something that will suit the purpose of aircraft videography.

Thanks for any input. Cheers, MP.

you need to get a camera that uses ccd chips instead of cmos which will all suffer from this to some degree. with that budget i would recommend getting a 2nd hand canon xha1 which also has a decent 20x zoom, or panasonic hmc151 though you'll be lucky to get a 2nd hand 1 for £2000. Unfortunately almost all the other hd cameras in that price range use cmos

Thanks, I wondered if it was a CMOS issue and looks like it was.

As a happy Canon user, the XH-A1 looks very impressive and probably more than enough to suit my needs. Looking around I see prices in the £2-2500 area, so more than matching my criteria.

Thanks for your input, MP.

Another vote here for the Panasonic AG-HMC 151 : DVuser: Panasonic all-new AG-HMC151 AVCHD camcorder

Gets very good reviews, is supposed to be excellent in low light, and is of course tape free, which would appeal to me if I was thinking of buying a new camera. It might stretch the budget a bit though!

Examples like this YouTube - Canon HV20 "jello effect" show the worst of the rolling shutter effect - deliberately done to exaggarate, I know - but it put me off buying a new camera with Cmos sensors for the moment!
