Question Sony HDR-XR520V 240GB HD Camcorder -What is the difference between a V and VE Model?

What is the difference between a V and VE Model? I know that V is for the US market and VE fo the European/UK market but does it matter? I have just cancelled an order with Simply Electronics because I amnot conviced that the V model they are selling is compatible with playing on UK TVs, even though my TV is HD as is my DVD player is HD.

Have I worried too much? why would they have different models if they didn't matter?

Hi it will be compatible with your tv its just it records at 60hz and not the uk 50hz. Its not really an issue as your tv will display 1080i/60. You might want to re think your source for your purchase. When i was buying my xr520ve i read lots of bad things about simply electronics. Do a search on the forums, i got mine from edgeware hifi centre which at the time was the best price for the uk stock model.

Thanks Chris. Good to know that either way, I seems to be covered. If the camcorder turns up, it will work.

However, they should cancel the order as I asked them within a couple of hours, and it is via Google Checkout.

My only issue might be Simply Electronics, although i have seen a thread that suggests that it wants to clean up its act.

Thanks again.

I've got one of these camcorders and have to say that the image quality is awesome. I bought mine from Amazon.co.uk and considering how amazing Amazon are at providing excellent service, i'd suggest you buy one from them, as aposed to Simply Electronics, who are basically rip off merchants, and have been proven to be such too whether they so called "want to clean up their act" or not.

I'd never buy a single thing from them, and I know that about 98% of people who've bought from them didn't get what they paid for, and were told their item was in stock before they paid the site, then were told it wasn't, and most of them had to wait weeks to get their money back. Some of them who didnt use their credit card, and who used a standard debit card have still not got their money back from what i've read.
