Canon HF10 photo effects problem

Hello Everyone,
Can anyone help me with a problem I am having with my new HF10, I am new to the world of Camcorders, so please go easy on me.
The problem I have is the HF10 will not take black&white stills or Sepia still images, I have followed the Manual to the letter, but when I review my photo's they are in full colour, I dont use Easy mode for taking photo's, because I know you can not use the digital effects in easy mode, when I've done setting the camera, I can see the E1 or E2 icon in the left hand side of the view screen, but even though the camera say's its in E1 or E2 mode the pictures are always in full colour, I dont know what to do to overcome this problem, if anyone can help please do, thanks for reading my problem

Re: Canon HF10 photo effects problem

As well as setting the effect in the menu, you need to apply it (p51 of manual).

Click set on the joystick and push up to select the effect.

Re: Canon HF10 photo effects problem

No problem. To be honest it foxed me until I RTFM again and once more for luck ...
