Sanyo hd2000 MP4 files?

I've just bought a Sanyo Xacti HD2000. I'm beginning to regret it. The Nero disk that came with it doesn't see the camcorder so can't import files into it.

The biggest problem though is this MP4 format. Could someone help, please? How am I supposed to edit them in in something like Movie Maker? I have used a few converters tonight with mixed results: all produce huge files but all seem to lose the sync between video and sound, or don't produce the video, or the sound. I have a fast PC with 4 gig of RAM.

I'm thinking of going back to my trusty working Flip and returning this camera! What is the point of these cameras if you can't edit MP4 files?

This is frustrating!! I'm off to bed with a headache.

HEEEELPPPPP (please, thank you).

Re: Sanyo hd2000 MP4 files?

Have you installed all the software that came with the camera? I'm wondering if there's something that you need to install / run that allows you to convert to other formats.

If it's any help, this link saved my bacon. I can now convert my avchd files to WMV, making them easy to edit together in Windows Movie Maker and (I guess) the likes of Nero.

Re: Sanyo hd2000 MP4 files?

I am able to view all the MP4 files of the Sanyo HD2000 with the Nero software supplied. Just simply copy the MP4 files from the SD card to the PC HD and play them with Nero Showtime. However, the highest resolution videos of 1920x1080, 60p plays jerkily while all the rest are OK. Not sure if the latest version of Nero 9 overcomes this problem since the version that came with Sanyo is version 8. You can do basic editing (cutting or joining clips) in the camcorder itself.

Since the HD2000 is ahead of its time, most editing software will have problem handling the 60p videos but I believe they will catch up with their next versions or patches.

Re: Sanyo hd2000 MP4 files?

You could also try this program

SourceForge.net: MP4Cam2AVI Easy Converter

It should allow the files to be recognized by any player/editor
