25p mode: great as mts, choppy as quicktime?

I just tried filming a clip using 25p mode and then edit the video using Final Cut Express. Worked fine, but when I view the resulting quicktime movie, I notice it's a lot more choppy (like frames are dropped) then when viewing the MTS file directly on my PS3.

Is there a setting I must have overlooked?

If you convert your AVCHD footage into AIC for editing in FCE, then you will lose some quality in that conversion.
Some folk say a lot of quality, but I can't confirm that myself!

Have a look here for some details;

Just click on the 'Stay away from iMovie/FCE' article.

It may be just an anti Apple rant, or there maybe some useful comment in the article - you'll have to see whether any of the observations match your own experience.
