Argggh...... £1500 later and Arggggh!

I have a Sony HDR-CX11E and my old Dual Core 2Gb system wasn't up to the task of editing the AVCHD files.

So as blogged in this forum I built a super high spec system i7, 6gb, Vista 64bit to utilise the high spec etc etc

All was well.

D/l'd Vegas Studio Platinum Pro 9 (Trial with scope to buy), and having used an old version beforem editied my 30 min movie without any hitches. It read the raw MTS files, no worries.

Then............... Hit render or make movie and the darn program crashes seconds (sometimes minutes) in to the render!!!!!!!!!

Now I've read that sometimes this editing suite has issues with Vista 64 on render. Anyone else shed some light.
Secondly, thought I'd trial the Pro 64 bit version (no chnace of spending £500 on it, but thought I'd at least render it to save my hours of editing.) Only to find this download won't even open to install, despite several attemps and downloads, it never gets passed the double click to install.

Arggggh....help

Have you tried XP 64 bit? I run both and find that what won't run in Vista will generally work in XP, and vice versa.

Re: Argggh...... £1500 later and Arggggh!

No I haven't, but I've never run a dual OS system before and wouldn't know where to start. Plus I'm sute XP 64 won't be cheap.

I've tried something I saw on a another Forum and copied the project to an another open Vegas and renamed it. Rendered as MPG2 + HD 1080i and it rendered it ok, just that the file .M2T doesn't want to play.

I finally got Pro (64bit) to install after a reboot and all was well, now having got it to work well in this programe the bad news is, I'm not gonna shell out £500+ on a bit of software

Anyone have £500 going spare

Re: Argggh...... £1500 later and Arggggh!

Matty,

I'm in the same boat as you, I just built the same PC spec as you for the same reason.

I just spent 10 minutes logging a tech support case with Sony to be told that they don't support Sony Vegas 9 Platinum Edition on Vista 64 bit.

I bought the software before I built the PC. On my laptop (that I used the software on before) I have in the past had the same rendering issues, so I'm not convinced that this is because we're trying to run the software on Vista 64.

If I find a solution I'll let you know. It's a shame because I've recently spent £70 on this software and it's great to use. Shame it can't render anything!

Gavin

Re: Argggh...... £1500 later and Arggggh!

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 to render my HD files on Vista 64 and windows 7 64-bit.

No problem at all.

Do you have windows 7 in a virtual machine , as a multiboot on existing PC or standalone?
I have a ( seldom used) CS4 on Vista 32 which is very OK
Vegas ( not MS) and Premier Elements 7 are actually fine

I have Vista 64 with an i7 PC, and use both CS4 and Vegas 9 studio. Both packages render everything to everything, and if anything Vegas is faster.
