Your plan for Friday 14th November?

What's your plan for the day?

I've booked it off work, and have the game being delivered to home.

I'm considering walking to the post office (less than a mile away) at 6am to see if I can get it

Whatever time I get it, i'll be playing it most of the day, taking short toilet and beverage breaks.

Now, what I don't know is, do i;

1. Play online all day, working on my ranks
or
2. Play single player, working on my gamerscore

It's a tough one.......

You're actually taking a day off work to spend the day playing the game??

If you're that hardcore then there's no reason why you shouldn't go to the post office at 6am and ask for it.

I'm away to New York for a weeks holiday this Thursday - so with that in mind - I'll probably be trying to recover from the jet lag on the 14th

Too right. I've never had a day off work, just to play on the Xbox (normally DIY / shopping / holiday related) and what better day than the release of COD5

Im going to buy it and put it on the mantlepiece, I'll then look at the box every day until my Xbox comes back from the M'soft repair shop in Frankfurt.
I'll then try and rank up from pea-shooter whilst the rest of AVF have prestiged.

Still 11 days until release, you might have the 360 back by then.

They have a repair shop about 20 mins north of portsmouth. My m8 got his sent to be fixed there and got it back in a week.

Can't remember if mine went abroad or not but mine was picked up and returned within a week too.

jeez, last time mine went away it took them 4 weeks after they'd received it - around this time last year.

Have you not sent it off yet ?
I think the turnaround at the moment is something like 10 days on average so get it sent off ASAP fella

not yet, I didn't get round to it over the weekend, didn't have any bubble wrap at home yesterday and then forgot to bring it into work today. I shall send it tomorrow though.

My Xbox dilema was put into perspective when my wife said she understood that I enjoyed playing it so much (rather than watch crap TV) but she couldn't understand why i was so upset that it had broken, especially as it would be fixed for free.
She may be blunt but she has a point

However I have just rung them and a very kind lady in a call centre somewhere in the far east has told me they have no UK repair centres and that it must go to Frankfurt.

That's rubbish, when mine went away, it was in the UK, and back within 7 days iirc.

In regards to the turnaround time, mine is currently looking like it will take less then their 2- 3 week estimated time. UPS picked mine up on Monday (2PM ish) and it arrived in Germany this morning which I think is pretty good timing, I'm just hoping it is actually fixed and stays fixed.

if you want to take the smile off your wifes face, just tell her your going to pick a core up for £130 in the mean time (worked for me ...priceless )

it'd wipe the smile off my face too, I need to get the kids a Wii + bumf, the wife a Wii fit board & not to mention the games I need for me'sen.

I pre-ordered WAW last night just becos I couldn't bear the thought of getting my Xbox back early and then not being able to get the game becos it'd sold out.
At least I can read the instruction manual for a week or 2

you used it as a threat? it's what i actually did. mine broke, bought a core and shipped my broken one back to usoft. will have 2 when it gets back from germany. will keep it for the sitting room or give it to my brother, not 100% sure yet

Got mine on pre order with Game. Flying back from Amsterdam so will have to give the Mrs a cuddle before switch on time. Just hope someone is in the house if it needs to be signed for.

5tarr...don't give up hope. My xbox broke down on the 28th Oct, drove it over to UPS depot on the 29th Oct and had a replacement refurb under my telly on Friday 7th November.

That's a turnaround of 11 days including weekend. Hang on in there buddy

cheers mate, sent it last Wed and hoping to get back Thursday. Its been shipped already.
I wonder if 8 days will be a record?
I shouldn't say anything cos I haven't got it yet!

So my plan for 14th is stripping off naked, oiling myself up (with something none abrasive or corrosive) and playing WAW with you guys!
