Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

Sorry for creating a new thread with a new poll, but the other poll was about map packs had different options.

I'm currently on level 55 on COD5, and not gone prestige yet, so my decision is either go prestige on COD4, or get COD5.

COD5 doesn't, seam like enough of a new game to warrant a new game, (online anyway).

I'm just wondering if people will just stick with COD4, as its a top quality game, with endless life left in it or will people simply get COD5, i don't think having both is an option, why would you have 2 games almost exactly the same?

Re: Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

Well im sticking with COD 4 for the time being. I've tried to like COD 5, but I just cant. Treyarch had it given to them on a plate, I mean they were given the COD 4 engine to use. And in my eyes they've cocked it up. There isn't anything new or different, its not even half the game that the COD 4 beta was.

I know alot of people diss Treyarch for the sake of it, COD 3 was a good game, but a backward step from COD 2. It feels like they've done that again and taken a step back when they had the basis to make an amazing game!!

Re: Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

I've pre-ordered WAW and will defintetly give it a chance. As with all the other CoD games on the 360 I also enjoy playing though the single player campaign modes which of course we have yet to experience.

For me, CoD 3 felt like it was a completly different game and just wasn't as good as CoD2 - the name was the only thing that related the two for me. After completing the single player mode, I was back playing CoD2 online mostly until Modern Warfare was released.

The WAW beta still has the same feel as CoD3, but there is something they've done to it that makes it feel far better - something in the way that the guns fire or are controlled that's weird to explain. Of course, adding in all the features from Modern Warfare seems to have helped it also.

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see when the real thing comes out!

Re: Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

Dissapointed with the game - Played the beta last night and to me cod5 is like cod3 in a new box its a step backwards for the cod series, we've been spoilt by cod4 which I will be playing for years to come, it has set the new standard. I think they should have stuck with the modern theme, how many games have they released from the past for god sake. Release new maps and update packs that would have done with more online achievements.

the standard has been set by cod4, cod5 feels awful compared to it even the sound effects sound cheap and old.

only good points are being able to select europe only when going online though that menas playing the french, the dogs watch them run when you set them on the enemy, and your body blowing up into bits in the kill cam and thats it. dont even know if i will buy it. but will be definatley buying new cod4 maps when they release them

bring on cod 6 - hear that it's going to be sci-fi (thats what halo's for), put the brakes on ppl and lets stick to a formula that works how many World war games have we had compared to modern warfare.

Too true. ive got the beta and i think its drawn a line in the sand for me. I will never buy a WW2 game again. Thats it now. Their just too boring. You cant just give us all this cool stuff and features on COD 4 then downgrade it and think ill just buy it.

Like you say its not even half the game that COD 4 was and thats shocking because this game is brand new and Infantry ward pretty much finnished that a year and a half ago yet its still way way better than WAW.

You just cant take away the SAS and Marine missions either. COD 4 had the best single player experiance in a game ever for me and the ending was as cinematic as the first 20 mins of Saving Pvt Ryan. The missions in WAW look so dated and 'done befor' that im struggling to find good points. Ive done so many campains in WW2 that no matter what story line they throw out i dont give a **** anymore. The only good points i can find are features they've taken from 4. They got hardly anything original.

The great thing about COD 4 is that you can relate to it. Its set in our time with weapons that we know and that are being used today in an environment that we can relate to aswell. Going into WW2 takes the immersion away and makes it feel like a game cos you cant relate to it. Taking a modern day street with a squad of Marines kitted to the teeth with modern equipment or Taking an old town the like of which ive weve 100 times befor with a squad of unaroured men with uneffective weapons and no modern tech. There's no contest.

They should of just done what potencially COD 6 is going to be and go sci fi. Although when they say sci fi i think they mean Tom Clancy's End War sci far rather than War of the Worlds sci fi.

The saddest thing is that me and my m8 who both loved and sold COD 4 are going to buy it back with the new maps instead of buying WAW and thats a worrying issue. That we'd rather buy back a year old game where we cant do the single player again rather than get the newest edition in the series. In a nutshell they taken COD 4 and given it a WW2 paint job and downgraded everything. We had all this technology and weapons and they've taken them away and replaced them with jack **** imo. P90 or Thompson. M60 red dot sight or BAR. 50CAL or springfield. And cos they've got tanks that just messes up the map layout and ruins what COD 4 was great for. Maps.

****ing treyarch . Leave it to the big boys.

This made me laugh.

So how many weapons have you picked up and fired?

I cant say i'm that familiar with ANY weapon as i've never even seen a real gun!

I think i'm gonna see what my friends list plays, cos whatever they are all playing i will have to play to join in the fun.

Well i for one will be buying it and keeping COD4.
COD4 is great
But you have to remember that WaW at the moment is a BETA.
You have no idea what the single player will be like. WaW will have Co-op, Single player and FRIKKIN ZOMBIES

Re: Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

i initially said i'd stick with cod 4 as i didn't think the difference in mulitplayer would be that different to justify the cost.

But now i've thought a bit more, viewed some more co-op campaign video's and found about the extra zombie mode, its now firmly on my 'to buy' list

bring it on

Re: Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

I'm not going to bother getting it.
I played it for the first time the other night and just couldn't get on with the guns or even see anyone on that water side map...

As for the Zombie mode, I have a feeling that could become very jaded quite quickly.
The first 1 or 2 times you play it will be fun but as there's no end-point, with just wave after relentless wave then I can see it getting boring and pointless.

I might pick it up much later when it's down to a tenner

For modern warfare i will stick with COD4, as for WW2 games then i would rather stick with COD3. I will buy World at War at a later date for single and co-op play.

I'll buy WAW in addition to COD4 and play both. Plus the odd game of 2 and 3

Re: Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

I said ages ago Treyarch would cock it up, and to an extent they have. WAW isn't as immediately brilliant as COD4. It also seems a bit slower to me. As somebody else said, they had it given to them on a plate. The hard work was done for them.

And little things like getting rewards after 5 and 7 kill streaks. I thought most people had realised that in COD4 we get choppers far too frequently - I'd have revised it to rewarding kill streaks of 10, and made that the kind of streak that the dogs get released at here.

But worst of all, they've brought vehicles back. These guys really know how to screw up a game don't they? No bikes (yet) but tanks? Pah.

(Why is it that some developers "get it" and some don't? There's a thread all by itself there. I'm not saying I could do any better myself but I wouldn't do any worse...)

Having said that the extra multiplayer modes are welcome, and I'm getting well cheesed off with the cretins who seem to play COD4 these days. Nobody seems to want to play team games like HQ properly - they're all off sniping from the edges of the map.

I pre-ordered COD4 and (despite a period of doubt a few months ago) still think it's the best thing online. I haven't ordered WAW and will probably wait 2 or 3 months til its £15 cheaper as these things inevitably become. And anyway my life is getting too busy without getting bogged down in yet another video game...

Re: Sticking with COD4, or getting COD5?

I've cancelled my pre-order.

It's fun to an extent, and I love WW2 weapons and settings, but the game itself seems like a retrograde step from the polished feel of COD4.

I appreciate it's only a beta, but with only a month before production how much could possibly be changed?

I will wait for reviews, if the co-op campaign turns out to be good I will get it, otherwise plenty of new games coming to keep me busy!

going on what the beta was like, i wasnt impressed tbh. unsure as to what the single player will be like, maybe ok. still i think i will stick with COD4 for XBL and maybe buy WAW when the price drops for SP campaign only then sell it back.

just got BF:BC this weekend, that tops COD4 and WAW for online gameplay imo. and i really didnt think anyone would better COD4

Gears 2 horde mode say hi

On topic. Still not sure. Kinda' liked the beta, but as someone else has said, i just think WWII is a bit passé now. Having served in countless other WWII games since MoH:AA, it is tough to get excited about it again. Even if this is a bit of the war not covered by a previous WWII game. Still feels the same.

While zombie mode sounds good to me (hey Brogan, i was only playing with the above, maybe you are right and it will get dull in WaW), with Gears 2 Horde and Left 4 Dead coming very soon, i am not sure WaW's zombies have quite the pull they would have.

Game looks nice tho That said, I do have this on pre order, but may well cancel and pick it up after the event. Too many games at the mo, and while cash isn't the problem, time very much is.

Speak for yourself, the M16 with red camo looks and shoots very much like the one I use every day at the office. Also Vacant is soooo similar to my grandfathers allotment its scary.

oh I'll be playing bot COD4 & 5 as I'm sure most in this forum will be...
