I've noticed my legs have been blown off by tanks a couple of times. Plus noticed extra blood spurtage when shot.

Can you lose arms and heads too?

I got a Perk last night that had a syringe icon and i've seen it used on You Tube. It's used to inject teammates that are downed and bring them back to full health. I think they must need to have 'last stand' or something??

That syringe perk means you have both last stand plus the abiltity to heal other players who are downed, who also have the syringe perk active

I was on this last night and there were a pile of yanks screeching OMG DUDE SOooo AWESOME..
i ran round this building and there was 3 of them standing there so i went and had a look and there on the ground was the top half of an enemy... dunno where his legs were.
