Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

There are many reasons why the Beta is not good and that the full game should not be released next month.

Reasons friends and I have come up with are:

- Friendly names showing up way too late.
- Enemies appearing as friendlies so left alone.
- Vehicles need to be re-thought (no tanks no need for bazooka noobs).
- Perks need to be re-thought (no juggernaut and so no need for stopping power).
- Re-balance weapons (BAR is useless and thompson is spray and MP40 rules over).
- Recently glitching has started (glitching under the map roundhouse and on top of the roof top on castle).
- Grenade (fuses short on explosives yet special ones do nothing)
- Modded (turbo) controllers win over anything as fast ire rate and no recoil
- The spawn system needs sorting (you spawn with enemies behind you or enemies spawn within knife range, i have been knifed when someone spawned in knife range behind me where i was stood)

There are probably many more things that you find need fixing so what have you found you dont like and needs fixing?

Maybe this is why they have released a beta? Jeez! Some people are so impatient, they will listen to the feedback and respond accordingly. Now just enjoy it, its free!!

Re: Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

i know this is why they released a beta but cmon its not meant to make the game look bad, or this bad

they put up three maps and you can glitch on two of them (at least that i know, though i dont know how to do them)

Re: Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

Shooting through solid walls and objects needs to be fixed.

Basically everything you mentioned also. They have left if far too late to patch the bugs, between the time taken to fix the bugs and the MS validation period the patch wouldn't be out until atleast December and likely 2009. The beta needed to be released last month for a patch to be available for launch.

Haha! Perhaps I should have posted this comment in this thread...

Admittedly the COD4 Beta ran from the 30th August to the 30th September, and the full game was released on the 9th November, so there was more time to fix any bugs, but the feedback received via charlieoscardelta.com was listened to. That's what a Beta (not general release demo) is for. Although the time left for change is much smaller, I can't see any reason for it to be different this time around with the feedback garnered at callofduty.com. So, if you have feedback, and it sounds like many of you do, don't just sit there moaning about it, give the Yanks a run for their dollars and tell Treyarch what you think.

I think it's great fun to discuss the pros and cons of this Beta, but if you actually require action to be taken and you care enough to give feedback, this is not the place for Treyarch to hear it.

You had me at hello !

But seriously.......The glitching was inevitable, every game has them but considering we have only had 3 maps so far there are a bit too many already being discovered. I totally agree with the spawns, was literally killing someone and having them kill me 5 seconds later
The biggest concern for me is the physics. Was playing a game with some AVF boys last night. 5tarr had to shoot me twice at point blank range in the head (thanks mate !) before i went down !

Re: Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

I have been playing since Saturday and there is a lot wrong with the beta. Its due for release very soon so I honestly dont think most of the problems will be addressed on release and we will all be waiting for the inevitable patch to get it into a playable state.

Main issues for me have been:

Host advantage - If you are Hosting in most lobbies you are next to invincible. I have seen the host opened fire and hit him around 5 times yet they can just run up and stab you, you die they go on to do the same thing to the next punter.

Bolt Action Rifles - woefully underpowered in the beta, you need three good hits to get a decent kill. The reload is so slow that trying to get the 3 hits is next to impossible.

Glitches - The ones found in the beta will hopefully be patched for release. Map Monkeys will always find ways to get out the map or to places they shouldnt, these should be patched ASAP.

Overpowered/Underpowered weapons - I have tested them all and the Thomson/MP40 are so overpowered against the rest that if you come up against someone using them in a 50/50 shoot out you will lose.

I had a few games last night. It was a bit laggy i must say. For me the maps are just not big enough. I like it but the more i play it the more i see faults.

Re: Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

Spawn is a big issue. And I wish they had local server selection to avoid the Americans. If anyone starts glitching, bitching and cheating its usually them (en mass)

Also re the guns - shot SteveHills in head at point blank the other night. Saw the blood spurt but it still took a second shot. that can't be right.

Like the extra blood though - tanks take legs!!

Re: Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

I haven’t played it so cannot make to many comments, I will be getting it on release day regardless of any problems it has. Reading down, these all seem to be common Beta faults.

Most of the points listed were present in COD4 and some still are:

Gun power, try comparing the M16/RPD/P90 to the M14, SAW and uzi, there is no comparison the first 3 are far more powerful in every respect.
Peoples names not appearing, this happens a lot in cod4 when you are close to an object e.g. the chopper on countdown, and I personally found it really difficult initially to tell the difference between team, but you get used to it.
Glitching, well you cannot stop it, you can try but it is always going to be there that is why they include the “avoid player” option.

Re: Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

I was palying with some AVF chaps the other night when we experienced a slight bit of Lag. When we returned to the lobby there was a player with two bars signifying his connection. A small annoying American child then noticed this, drew the conclusion that it was the other palyer's fault and then encouraged all and sundry in the lobby to file a complaint against him!! When filing a complaint, where exactly is the 'geographic location' option?

AT LEAST there is an option to choose LOCAL or LOCALE ONLY in the search preferences, not only (hopefully) will I have fairer games from now on (I always seem to suffer because of latency issues but at least it's not as bad as Halo 3) but also no more stupid yank tweeners screaming and shouting abuse!!

Is there? Nice one, I didn't realise that. That will be incredibly useful.

Agree about the glitching being annoying. I got killed several times by this on Roundhouse last night - when I checked the killcam, he appeared to be buried under the ground with just his gun poking out so he coudl shoot everyone without getting hit himself.

Also, hit detection is definitely dodgy (I thought that about COD3 as well - let's hope Treyarch do something about it this time).

Let's not forget that this is a beta, so hopefully they're putting in the hours to fixing these issues as we speak, and the finished article is a polished beauty.

*trying so hard not to be cynical about Treyarch*

Re: Reasons Why The CoD5 Beta Is Bad And Needs Fixing

half these problems still happen in COD4, and still havent been fixed.
also the m16 with stopping power is basically one trigger kill, making it most powerful gun on the game
maybe they will sort COD% out as its different developers

i have heard people screaming yay will we win as they have host on their team (not knowing if they do)

bolt action rifles are very weak and slow yes

i agree about the weapons and glitches

this should not be released next month it needs more time and more fixing

also the m16 with stopping power is basically one trigger kill, making it most powerful gun on the game
maybe they will sort COD% out as its different developers
its not like there much difference between 4 nd 5 despite different makers

You can fix all of these problems, but my biggest gripe is still with the cheats who have to use a modded controller simply to make up for their lack of skill. It seems even more obvious on COD5

i may rent it then first
i still play cod4 alot, but there are still problems with it
for example, as soon as it reaches 6ish in the US (11pm here), i couldnt find a game last night
we had 5 ppl in our party so decided just to play private
also sometimes when people are hid behind walls, you cant kill them, even if there head is stuck up
