I tried to get a 3rd one for AVF members but there website got messed up by then.

Can someone shut these thanks threads down. Nothing wrong with giving forum members spare codes, I gave someone a code. But these threads are disgraceful, either give the code to the first person on the list, or choose someone at random, why demand to be thanked.

What is worse is that these threads are getting loner and longer to earn more thanks.

I'm going to statrt a thread tonight and give a beta code away in 2011.

Should be first come first serve, first person to pm.

Asking for thanks is an easy way of seeing who wants the code - Can't remember who did it, but someone asked for loads of thanks, then got their gf to pick a name at random.

I'm thinking of doing something like that should my codes become available (they're currently reserved for 2 members)

Agree that the thanks system makes it easier, saves having to trawl through a large thread.

But giving it to the first person that replies is even easier

Or just give codes away to your mates (real ones) or people on your firends list (virtual ones you get on with)

these "thanks" threads are only good when the OP is giving away a original game for free, not when you are requesting thanks for something you got for nothing and are not going to use.

Why dont you give it to someone on the beta code request thread?

Why is everyone being so negative about this whole thing, the thanks get deleted after the code is given away (which is what happened to the other guy) and it is fairer this way as it is picked at random. Why does every person automatically assume it is because of statistics such as thanks, there is a thing called kindness as well

Certain members were doing it to up their thanks.

If you weren't bothered about thanks you would do first come first serve or just pm it to someone you choose to.

I can't understand the logic (especially now as the thanks are removed of doing a draw and leaving it open for nearly 24hrs) pm it to the first person and be done with it.

In my opinion it would be kind to get the code out now so that lucky person can start downloading now?!

It was me, my Wife picked it out..

I was part of the Friends and Family beta test, there was only 60 of us playing.

Posting such a thread at that stage of the game was a privilege for whom ever won it..

Since, I have given out 5 Beta codes, 3 in the last 10 minutes...

P.S Thanks count / Post count does not bother me or I would be a posting mad person..

To be honest I don't know why they don't just put the betas on marketplace to download and the first 20,000 (or however many beta slots are available) get to downlaod it.

They could then remove it from the marketplace.

But instead eurogamer are onto a winner getting people to sign up who wouldn't give a toss about it to get a code.

Eurogamer are just as bad as the thanks on here.

Anyway these thank threads show that there are alot of thankers

on here.

i just gave one away on a first come first serve basis but i can see why OP is doing it in this way, he's trying to be as fair as he can, to give everyone an equal chance. I think its the waiting that's egging everyone off. If i was him i would have waited until 8, 8.30 tops
