DLC already on the disk?

Anyone else been reading about this?

Apparently new game modes and maps are already on the disk they just haven't been released yet?

God knows if it is true or not.

Yes it is a boring day at work and I would much rather be browsing the net and posting on here rather than working.

I've heard this about quite a few DLC packages. It's the reason you can get a relatively large amount of "DLC" in a small download - most is already on the disc and buying the DLC just activates it. Is this thread about the ethics of charging more for pre-existing content?

I dont know...

Would just be nice that if the content is all finished and available then we should be able to play it now, rather than IW holding onto it to make more money at a later date.

Suppose thats what the business is all about though...making money.

Yeah, it's a bit odd that there might be content already on the disc which you might have to pay to unlock.

Of course when you buy software you buy a licence to use that software and you agree to the licence terms and conditions as set out by the publisher.

I'm sure their licence conditions cover any data on the disc that is currently locked.

Still, sucks donkey hooves.

How can they call is "Downloadable Content" when you already have the content in question?

You pay for a disc full of stuff, when have to pay again to use it?

Activision can stick it up their , they already screwed everyone over with the inflated price of MW2 in the first place...

Doesn't bother me where they are located really. As long as there are more maps released i'm happy!

Scrapyard? That's already a map that's in use.

so it is mate, poor representation of the aeroplane graveyard that has the juggernaut guys in the spec ops section imo, they could surely make that into a steaming multiplayer map if they included the section with all the broken up fuselage not just the 3 or 4 bits thats in scrapyard.

but hey ho who am i anyway

I'd be VERY surprised if the maps were (I think IW are on record as saying they've not started the DLC yet), but game modes (online, anyway) can be added at any time for free by IW (As they were last week).

If the maps do come in a suspiciously small download then there'll be uproar, no doubt!

Aye, noticed the TDM express and Mosh Pits the other day and was slightly puzzled as I was sure they weren't there before

Mosh Pit is a nice break from my Sabotage addiction

some people have been digging round in the code and found what may possibly be cancelled or upcoming maps/game modes...

"cancelled MP maps:
mp_downtown_la - "Downtown Los Angeles"?
mp_oilrig - Oil rig from "The Only Easy Day... Was Yesterday"?
mp_riverwalk
mp_suburbia - Definitely sounds like a D.C. map.
mp_trailer
mp_verdict - Could be a D.C. map as well - possibly the Supreme Court?

cancelled gametypes include:

gtnw - "Global Thermal Nuclear War"
's pretty interesting. It uses CTF spawns, and apparently you're supposed to capture a nuke and do something with it.

oneflag - "One Flag CTF"
It's like what Sabotage is to Search & Destroy.

vip - "VIP"
Escort a VIP to safety. Or if you're on the other team, eliminate the VIP. "

It wouldn't surprise me. The same was done with Gears of War 2.

It may be slow because he's on his own, like when you're capturing a headquarters by yourself, so it may speed up if more of your team are there too. I think the whole point of it though is that it should take a long time, so you really have to defend it from the other team in order to win. I suppose we'll only know for sure, if IW let us actually have a go on this playlist one day...
