CoD4 or MW2?

There have been numerous posts (guilty) and numerous threads regarding peoples' feelings towards Modern Warfare 2, be it the campaign or multiplayer. To make things easier, submit an answer in the poll and post a reply with which one you prefer and why.

I prefer Call of Duty 4. The campaign rules over Modern Warfare 2's, especially in the way that the SAS function; their style is more SAS than in MW2 in terms of the whole drop in>infiltrate>complete objectives>get out alive, whereas MW2 is more inclined to the action side of the SAS. The original's multiplayer appeals to me more too, mainly because there's almost a complete lack of get a kill>get shot in the back>die instantly from respawn>get shot in the back. However, the new EXP system is something that I'll stick up for as it adds a whole new swing to multiplayer and feels much more rewarding.

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

Being a complete and utter Noob on both games I have to say I prefer MW2. I find it so much more addictive, and I always get 'one more go' syndrome, till stupid o clock in the morning!!

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

MW2 by a fair margin. It takes everything good about COD4 and adds in a load of cool stuff.

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

MW2 for me so far.

I like the faster paced MP.

Having said that it will be interesting to see how long the multi player holds my attention as COD4 had me playing for months online. Possibly because it is the only game I have really played online and I broke my 'MP virginity' with it, so it has a special place in my heart...awwwww

Some new maps coming out soon anyway aint there? That always adds a fresh new challenge.

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

Modern Warfare 2 by some distance for me, which is saying something because I absolutely loved COD4.

Like the new perks (especially Bling and Cold Blooded), another great single player campaign (that I'm yet to finish actually on Veteran), really slick and addictive multiplayer, and I've barely even touched Spec Ops as of yet.

MW2 FTW!!

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

I agree with the not too sure at first comment.

I found it to be a bit of a 'grower' and after a few hours of play though it just got better and better.

I've voted MW2, there is a lot more to it and at the moment I'm hooked. Although it is pretty early to be sure.

When I'm getting repeatedly shot from dark corners then I remember cod4 warmly!!

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

Its hard to prefer one over the other as they are essentially the same game, one is just 2 years older with loads more stuff added on. Obviously MW2 is better but it wouldn't be what it is without COD4.

Its like saying whats better Terminator 1 or 2? Well 2 obviously but Terminator is still awesome

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

Sorry Prefer MW1 - the single player is longer that the 7 hours (that was really taking time) to finish it.

Thought MW1 levels better, longer etc than MW2

MW2 is a little short and we was all moaning about ODST...

hard to seperate the 2, cod4 is always going to be 'the' game to me but my head says the superior game has to be mw2 overall

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

I voted MW1 as it was more of a complete game. The campaign is outstanding; MW2's just doesn't stand up to it imo. It was way too much of a rush and I didn't "care" nearly as much about the characters as I did in MW1 because that was more of a slow burner. Price and Gaz > Soap and Ghost. Sure, there were set pieces but they just didn't wow me after MW1's. Ghillie's in the Mist is the most outstanding level I think I've played and nothing in MW2 came even close to it.

MW2 is fun online definitely but I could quite happily still be playing MW1 online, although I do love how shotguns are secondary now

I agree.

The campaign in MW2 is utter dross, MW1 was one of the best written and most enjoyable video games ever.

MW2 MP is a worthy evolution of the COD4 online experience, and as it's evolved, it's become better. I would love COD4 maps for MW2 though.

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

For me it's MW2.

I loved MW, although I got it when it came out and played the SP. It wasn't until about 6 months ago I got XBL and started the MP, so I really bought MW2 for the MP.

The SP is ok, but nothing special.. at the moment i've got a bit of a "I want to complete it, so i've done it and can then justify buying Assassins Creed 2 for a SP game.

But the MP in MW2 is awesome imo. People are saying it's too fast paced, but then also criticise maps like Estate, where if you creep and play it careful, don't just rush the house like a nut case on speed, you'll come in the top 3!

At first I didn't like all these points being thrown at me, but now i've adjusted, I'm really enjoying the reward system.

Slight overexaggeration there surely? It's one of the most cinematic experiences I've had in a videogame. The plot might be thin but the adrenaline rush of playing the game is surpassed by few others.

This sums up how I prefer MW1 SP .... and I have not even finished MW2 SP yet.

Although MW2's MP has to take the crown for the wealth of customisation and options and ways to play it.

Like others I would not be adverse to an MW1 map pack for MW2 being released.

i really liked the campaign on mw2, hard to beat for sheer action packed levels. it definately wasn't rushed as the quality is high. only thing i missed from mw1's campaign is that it felt more military in a realistic sense than mw2, it's gone almost 'james bond and a couple of mates' style

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

A few people have mentioned MW1 Map packs for MW2.

Am I the only bloke who thinks another complete set of new maps would be better. MW1 mp is brilliant, dont get me wrong and the maps are outstanding...but I would personally prefer a selection of new maps rather than an update of old ones as good as they were.

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

Too many campers ruining MW2 multiplayer for me and I don't headquarters pro which was all I really played on MW1!

On the subject of the old maps if you go to the top right corner of Karachi you can see one of the big buildings from Backlot (the one with the big gun). Now if there ever was a reason to get out of a map that was it!

Re: CoD4 or MW2?

Voted MW2 seems overall the best in the series so far, even like the Titles/Emblems which on hearing about i thought would be pointless! Also loved the storyline and especially the US setting for some of the missions, twist at the end was a little flimsy for me.

Agree with this on the SAS/TF141 levels but the Army Rangers ones feel quite militaristic (... is that even how you spell that word!)
