This may sound like a daft question but why can i still be seen by someone who has a thermal optic fitted on their weapon if i've got the cold blooded perk activated? Is this perk only designed for the various air support etc?

Yeah it's to block enemy UAV, Air Support, etc... not thermal sights on guns.

It does block them, but not completely, they can still see a black outlined character, just not bright white like the others

Cold blooded deffo blocks you from showing white, the clues in the title.. You do however still show up as cold i.e. the same colour as all the buildings and stuff, so basically hardere to see.

As for the sights, my advice would be to never put one on anything other than a sniper rifle. But always stick on on a sniper cos theys is mint, they highlight people that you wouldn't normally see, such as people hidden by greenery :P
