Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

I would say I was pretty good at COD4, 7/10 matches i'd be the top player on my team points wise.
Played a few games of COD 4 earlier, one match I wen't 35 - 5, however wen't for a few games on MW 2 just now, ended up switching it off.. coming almost last in the majority of games, I know the maps decent enough now, but i'm still getting absolutely slaughtered, to the point where I dunno if I wanna play it anymore, anyone else feeling the same??

I wasn't too good at COD4, but in MW2 i'm completely rocking that M16+red dot+heartbeat sensor, K/D ratio is 1.20 at the moment.

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

I thought at first it was my connection, becuase I wen't to shoot someone by the time i'd aimed they had shot me down, I watch their kill cam it would appear I haven't even fired any bullets yet.. and also I keep getting shot through walls that i've just run around, which shouldn't be penetrated by FMJ.. but when I watch the kill cam i'm still not around the wall yet.

I wen't to play Cod4 and didn't have this problem, so I know it's not my connection.. Mw 2 just seems dodgy for me

Give FFA a go, i was ok on COD4 but i seem to win more games on MW2.
I have played some team games on MW2 and i suck
But FFA i can hold my own, so you might want to give that a go

Its just much faster IMO, plays differently because of this (for the better IMO).

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

hmm yeah true it does seem a lot faster...
My old play style on mw1 was to just run and gun, used to do really well with it, I had 2 helicopters in the same match earlier.
On MW2 I struggle to get a UAV.

I have been trying many different approaches to improve on MW2.
Running and gunning doesn't work for me at all, because I keep getting shot in the back by someone prone in an alley or something, i've tried going completely stealth, and hiding in dark places, but I always seem to get killed that way too somehow.. usually becuase when I shoot my gun isnt powerful enough due to lack of stopping power, so I get shot in the face.. I've even tried camping but then I get shot in the face by a run and gunner, just don't know what approach to try now..
whats working for you guys?

I run and gun a lot too in MW2, I shoot from the hip a lot and always have a decent side arm to switch to (M93 Raffica). Stopping power is a must for run n gun on MW2 until you get the mini uzi IMO. Also sensitivity is set faster as default on MW2 so I have dropped mine to Low and am whooping butt much more

I do as I shoot from the hip a lot ACR/M16 mainly at the mo

It does feel slow to turn around but the trade off is much more accuracy, for me anyway

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

For run and gun I'd recommend SP like NewBeetle said and an auto assault rifle with a good fire rate like the M4. Because the maps are much bigger I think it is too limiting to use an SMG unless you are playing objective games where you need to fight inside a lot. With the assault rifles you can still take out people in moderate close range but can also get easy long distance kills. Also a PP2000/G18 for secondary is great for hip firing when you go indoors.

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

I woudn't class myself as a particulalrly good player but on MW1 I could usually come out with more kills than deaths, however I'm finding MW2 a struggle to keep a positive K/D ratio.

I notice a lot of people use the heartbeat sensor which seems to give them a massive advantage as I've seen folk coming around the corner knowing exactly where I am and killing me before I even get a sniff.

Once you unlock cold blood you deal with them much better .
This is the first COD I play online so even with a 0.75 k/d I think I'm doing ok after just 5 days. Hopefully that will improve.

I don't think it is possible to be all out run and gun on MW2, the maps have too many levels with too few choke points with most parts of the map overlooked by at least one window/rooftop.

I was god-like in cod 4. /brags

Atm my K/D ratio is 2.20 in MW2. I'm still learning the maps though and tbh i'm not a fan of a lot of them. Hopefully there will be some decent ones for sniping via DLC.

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

i maybe corrected but is this not where the matchmaking is playing its part, you may be getting matched against guys as good as you where as in cod4 it was just a mixed bag and anyone with an even k/d ratio or better seemed to top the tables in most games on cod4, or does the matchmaking not work in this way?

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

lol my playtime so far in the barracks, is 1 day and 2 hours approx, and in most circumstances I would have improved, however the more I play it, the more I feel like im getting worse at the game. I started with a 1.80 KD ratio now i'm down to 1.66

I have tried putting my sensitivity to low, it has helped somewhat with aiming however i find it awfully slow when someone runs around the corner strafing and i'm trying to keep up

steady aim and shooting from the hip has helped in close quarter combat a good deal for me though

Really starting to feel i'm never gonna be good at this game lol

I agree, with the maps being bigger and the explosion radius/number of grenades being cut down i think the run and gunner has to rethink his tactics. It makes it a much more enjoyable game IMO, i felt on 4 that the guy with the best connection could sprint around the map steady aiming everyone it's not that easy with mw2. I've also noticed that the first shot wins a lot more than cod4, ie if you start shooting someone very rarely can they spin round and shoot you now

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

What killstreak rewards are people using ?
Is using the care package a good idea? I have tried using it and usually I either get shot opening it, or a team mate nicks it because i've had to fight off someone else.. so when I switch that off I struggle to get to 5..... eek
If by a rare miracle I get to 5, i've been toying with the predator missile (i always miss with the damn thing) or the sentry gun ( never know decent place to put it, hardly get kills )
all my kills are usually just from shooting, never get these streaks.

SO yeah, i'm pretty useless, whats everyone else doing with them lol

The killstreaks have a big impact on this game, i've switched to predator, harrier and heli gunner. If i get a killstreak of 6 and one from the predator then the game is almost over unless the other team bring the heli/harrier down with stingers. It reminds me of the tanks in waw, once the majority figured out how to blow them up with satchels they were nowhere near as effective

Personally i use care package, sentry gun and harrier.

I'm mostly playing headquarters and tend to find a quiet spot, well away from the headquarters, where all the action is taking place, to have the package dropped.

I've dropped 1 or 2 packages which don't appear and then after a while the message comes up that a team mate saved the package from dropping into enemy hands so i don't know what that's about

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

I feel not knowing the maps puts me at a disadvantage. I have played for around 2 hours so far and I am upto rank 15. The maps seem a lot bigger so it's very difficult to get your bearings at times which can lead to you getting shot in the back.

All down to persistence and experience I guess

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

I think the transition was probably harder for me than most people - I went from being amazing on COD4 on the PC to complete beginner on MW2 on the xbox. As well as the change of pace between the two versions, and the difference in the maps and weapons/perks, I also had to relearn how to play with a controller rather than a mouse!

It has taken quite a while and I nearly gave in and bought it on PC instead, but I am beginning to hold my own now. I should hopefully get my k/d ratio above 1 in the next day or so, after the first day's play it was at 0.3!

I have banned myself from the pc version of MW1 for the time being - I don't think it will help.

im convinced the games pretty laggy at times, i find i duck behind a wall to get shot, then drop down dead.
watch back the kill cam and i havent even gone behind the wall when he killed me, so irritating. i rely on they extra half second to duck behind a wall

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

I'd like to think i wasnt to bad on cod4, had a KD ratio of 1.77, but after i had got 10th prestige and finished all the gun challenges, i always did alot better than 1.77 per, usually higher than 2 cos i was using the guns i liked and was good with.

AS for MW2 im 50 50 atm, on each end of the spectrum, i either kick bum or get get my bum kicked, never in between. my ratio is about 1.9, im gonna put it down to using the gun i dont want to use, just to get the challenges..i think

If any of that makes sense...

I'm getting a bit slaughtered. Yes i have only played it for about 5 hours but compared to COW5 I'm not doing very well. Had a 2.01 k/d ratio on COD5 and I think i'm just scrapping 1.4 k/d at the moment on MW2. Not a massive fan on the maps so far but they are growing on me, but i think of all the COD games these are going to be the longest to learn with so many floors & room etc..

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

At first I was finding it difficult...But after hitting it hard this weekend last night I think I cracked it.

Unlocked the M16 which I'm pretty god like with and use the UMP smg cant remember its name and your set to go.

If you used to run and gun on warfare 1 then you wont be succesful on this one. You die easier and although I have been able to do it a few times most times you cant.

Also to the person saying that their are not sniper maps ?????!!!!!?????

Hope your joking there are too many I think in Afgan, rundown, possibly a few half sniper maps and then you have the HUGE snowey map.

Re: Anyone who used to be good at COD 4 getting slaughtered on Mw2?

Im not doing to bad on it so far. Then again I can have brilliant games and not so brilliant games.

Best so far was on FFA - Estate when I managed 30 for 5, which I think is my best ever.

FFA and Domination are the main ones I have played in order to find my way round the maps and get used to them.

I had a go at Search and Destroy last night and only racked up one kill, fortunately it was the game winning kill in the extra time or whatever it is called....it was quite nice seeing it on the last kill, kill cam thingymajig.

The huge snowey map (forgot its name) is a snipers dream. If you set yourself up as cold blooded, ninja and bling, chose sniper with silencer and thermal then you are laughing...just make sure you move after every 2 or 3 kills as usually they come back for a revenge kill.

I was having similar problems to the original poster, however it is now rare that i have more deaths than kills in a game. Usually something like 15-9 now. Somehow managed 24-0 yesterday thanks to calling in the airstrikes etc.
