Relationship health warning...

Just had an email from my girlfriend (Jenny).

See has commented on the article below...

Call of Duty? For an army of forsaken women, it's more like a call for help - Telegraph

I have tried my best to keep her happy (see her comment)

Anybody else struggling with earache at the minute?

I'm in a long distance relationship at the moment, so it's not all that bad... I've mastered the art of quickly texting inbetween rounds/watching killcams/spectating... When she comes up here for the weekend there could be words though :P

Re: Relationship health warning...

I think I'm lucky as my wife starts work quite early each day so I get quite alot of gaming time after 10pm as she goes to bed early. I don't get any earache due to this but I can tell you it's frustrating sitting through eastenders/corrie/emmerdale then on the weekends waiting for strictly then xfactor to finish just to get in some gaming time.
I can't believe some women(according to the article) subject us to this drivel then complain that we spend too much time gaming. At least what we are doing is actually interacting and using our brains!

Re: Relationship health warning...

I just find the whole article hilarious. I suppose I am lucky because I have a girlfriend who is also a gamer but doesn't mind me playing games on my own. She is happy to read or watch TV when I play but when I'm not playing we spend quality time together.

I would imagine if an article appeared with the title "I'm a celebrity should carry a health warning" there would be uproar!

EDIT: daft question but how do I get my gamercard as my avatar

Re: Relationship health warning...

My missus is ok at the moment due to the game being new and the "novelty" is still there! Yes, she is a little insane.

I can see the "Clamp Down" happening soon though. And once this happens, I can see problems occuring. She isn't a gamer and doesn't understand it.

Oh well!

Just sent my missus the link... Her reply:

"haha... i'm fine with you playing it tho as long as a) I dont have to hear a single word about it and b) you dont play it for more than 90 mins when i'm around!"

90 minutes a day when she's here. Score!

Same here. Guess i'm one of the lucky ones too.

In fact she tells me to go on the Xbox more often so she can chill on the couch with the laptop or read her magazines!

Re: Relationship health warning...

Haha.. I find it so funny!

My gf is a gamer, but not to the extent I am, she just likes to spend a lot of time prancing about on Fable 2 or Viva Pinata (Don't get me wrong.. both are top games! )

But she does express a dislike for COD when I sit there and tell her to watch films on the laptop with headphones so I can turn it up loud and hear footsteps.

Same for me.

Only drawback is, I tend to stay on it way longer than I should and end up going to bed at 2am or something. Not good when you have to be up at 6.30am for work

Re: Relationship health warning...

Its an ongoing problem in our house. Wife came down at midnight last night to kick me off or stood there till I turned it off (midnight is early for me sometimes its 2am, which is bad when ive got to get up with baby at 6am ), i also try and sneak into bed without waking her but too difficult, i say i fell asleep watching telly but she never buys it.

I should be going to bed earlier as we have a little girl whos just turned 1 and she usually needs a cuddle and tucking back in with a dummy on average 3 times a night and finally she gets into bed with us for a warm cuddle and snooze before getting up for a feed, we take turns getting up with her each night.

mrs wants me to go to bed for a cuddle especially now as its cold. I keep trying to stick to playing every other night, when its not my turn to get up with her, but its hard to disipline yourself. When my wife was pregnant I played the game in bed using turtle beach x3s, but couldnt speak for obvious reasons may have to resort to this again?

Now play with my headphones resting over one ear with the other ear listening to the baby monitor. when its the mrs turn i tell her that if the baby wakes before i come to bed ill see to her, so that she gets a solid 2-3 hours

sorry for waffling

Re: Relationship health warning...

I've got a monitor which i use to play xbox on, so the wife can watch the main TV and we can both sit it the same room.

best investment i've made!!

otherwise I would get moaned at for hogging the TV!

Re: Relationship health warning...

I'm definitely suffering. Living with a woman for the first time and it's been about 3 months in the same house, since then I've hadly been able to game.

Dreading the release of this game knowing I'll struggle to fit some time in. Played a bit last night while she was cooking and got so much stick.

Eventually forced to switch to the TV and unlucky for me at that exact moment there was an advert for the game showing and another torrent of abuse was unleashed until she realised it was an advert.

Kicking her out tonight for the night and got a mate coming over. Normally that would mean going out drinking but the way I live now I just feel like staying in with mates playing games!

Re: Relationship health warning...

There is definitely double standards here...!

As someone has already mentioned, how many guys have to endure tedious hours of SDC/X Factor/Eastenders/Corrie/Emerdale?

Fortunately for me I only have to put up with SCD, which at the moment isn't too bad (while you have the fit birds dancing - once they go, all interest will be lost)!

Re: Relationship health warning...

Don't worry people.
In a couple of years, Project Natal will release a game loving virtual gf who loads up COD when you walk in the door and high fives you when you get a 10 kill streak.

Until then we must be patient.. then when that day comes.....

thought about this but one of the mrs main complaints is that we dont talk, plus id have to have me x3 headphones on to hear the game

on the water bottle idea, she'd either shove it somewhere or kill me with it

I'm glad the comments in that article are giving her grief. What an ill-informed, sexist pile of jive. Doesn't she know there is only one scene you can opt out of in MW2?
