Re: Call of Duty: World at War - Play and Help Thread

I have to say that i went into this not expecting much and putting the success of COD4 aside, this is a bloody good game.

Online is the same as COD4 there, so it get's my vote. The dogs are cool too.

Single player looks and plays great. As always, the driving levels are naff but i'm used to that.

I have to say that this is the best WW2 Game ever, but as we know the genre is getting tiresome and i hope they move onto more moderns wars

When playing the online co-op campaign,is it identical to playing alone but with friends?
Me and a couple of mates gave it a try last night but found it a little dissapointing!

Yup, same here! Everyone says its just "COD4 in WW2" - which is fair to a point, but its so much better than that. The new MP maps are really cool - wish they had upped the number of players to at least 12 to make up for the larger areas, but its not a major problem.

I crap myself everytime the dogs are released! I have a phobia of dogs anyway and to hear them running around barking terrifies me - I run into a corner and hide just swiping my knife with my eyes closed till the barking stops

So really like it - know what you mean about the WW2 setting though, I was thinking last night, how about a "COD: Terminator" edition, set in the (distant) future where you have the rebels and the robots... might be cool

okay then you lucky ppl that have already played it,
i'm debating weather i should get this or not.

ppl are saying that really it's just a update from cod4 but why change a formula that works.I know BenchyUK said it's the best ww2 game ever but it's it better then cod4?

difficult to say if its better than cod4.
its no worse. but i dont think by 1 day or so after the release people will be able to properly comment.
it is very good. VERY graphic. same graphics and engine as cod are visible. good soundtrack!

and keifer is voicing.

I'm not quite sure what is going on with the experience points. We were told before that all game modes (private, co-op and single player would add xp, but it doesn't seem to be happening

Re: Call of Duty: World at War - Play and Help Thread

I think the single player game is great. Possibly better than COD4.

But I can't seem to get to grips with the online game. The maps all seem much bigger than COD4 and all the players seem to be smaller so I'm finding it difficult to spot people at the moment.

Also some of the guns have a very small magazine (is that what you call it) and you need to reload after a couple of bursts which takes some getting used to.

HAving said that I've only played it online for a couple of hours so I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Re: Call of Duty: World at War - Play and Help Thread

Love this, I actually prefer the multiplayer on this over COD4, hard to put my finger on why but something about the atmosphere makes it feel nicer to play

It's pretty gory in places though isn't it! I got blown up with a grenade (or two lol) last night and it blew my legs off!

Also Kiefer gets a bit angry sometimes and swears his head off lol

Only played the first mission in the campaign so far but looks really good, then switched over to multiplayer for a bit

i would call that a good thing so ppl can not just stand there unload a clip and hope they hit someone..you have to really work for a kill.

As someone who has not played any of the previous versions, it might be quite good to get a few of us noobs together for some multiplayer practice at some point, just so we can get to grips with the game without getting a pasting every time we set foot on a map. Any interest? [Waits for flood of FRs from people looking for easy kills ]

Re: Call of Duty: World at War - Play and Help Thread

Just got this this morning. Cant help feel a little let down by the MP graphics. I used to play COD4 loads on my old 360 and it deffo ran better and looked better than this. I guess it's the old PS3 not very good at AA problem. On a plus side the MP is fun, easy to level up I got to 7 on just a few games, it's alot easier to level up if you go for the boot camp challanges, i.e I just ran aroun with my knife out for a while and made 15 kills which gave me loads of xp.

Re: Call of Duty: World at War - Play and Help Thread

not bad at all , the maps look a bit ropey , but they are massive

the game has some interesting perks , overall 8/10 ( online )

not mad about the 3,5 & 7 kill streak items

7 and you get a load of dopey dogs - not exactly a combat helicopter is it !??

still prefer cod4 , but this is ok until rfom2 comes out !
