How do I stop the voice chat from coming through my tv speakers

On call of duty 4. I don't use a headset so I hear everybody through my tv speakers. Is there anyway to turn it off. Thanks

Only by muting them all.

Been a while since I have played...but i am sure if you have to do it 'in game'. Muting doesn't work in the lobby though...so keep the remote handy to switch off the whiners

Re: How do I stop the voice chat from coming through my tv speakers

Press select - brings up a list of players. Highlight each one and press X to mute.

ISTR you'll have to do it for each game.

You can also turn the speech volume down in the options.

Re: How do I stop the voice chat from coming through my tv speakers

A little tip what i sometimes do is switch my headset on but don't use it then all the voices just go to the headset and the tv is voice free.
Saves muting every game.

Chalky.

This is what I do most of the time (damn annoying kids). Doesn't excuse Sony for not giving the option of totally disabling VOIP though

Re: How do I stop the voice chat from coming through my tv speakers

Just a quick thanks for tips on turning off VOIP on COD4.

I note on COD5 they have implemented a dedicated volume control which is a very good idea.

Cod5 dedicated volume is NOT a good idea....it's a FANTASTIC idea....been playing Cod4 over the weekend (double XP) and the "chat" - i use the term loosly - in the lobbies got so annoying...even more so than the grenade spamming / teamkilling on HC

Re: How do I stop the voice chat from coming through my tv speakers

Thea annoying thing is that in COD4 for the 360 you can turn off all in game talking without needing to do it each game.

I am not exactly sure how I did it again, as the last time I played my 360 version was December, but I have been playing it yesterday and today for the first time due to double XP to try and Rank up and there it is every game, everyone muted automatically.

For 360 in the online preferences I think on the guide (last blade on right maybe???) you can set the volume and if it should come out of the tv or headset.

I cant believe PS3 doesn't have a feature like this in the xmb ....come on sony
