Re: MW2 Online. Download limit HELP!

On line gaming can use anything between 10 and 100mb an hour depending on the game, whether you are host etc.

Certainly no more than 150mb an hour which leaves you plenty to spare.

Re: MW2 Online. Download limit HELP!

Online gaming doesn't use as much as you'd think mate, it's more stuff like iPlayer etc that'll hammer your download limit.

If this is the case then in theory the faster eg 8-20mb internet connections will make no difference to online game play? If you are a solid gamer and not a downloader you don't need to worry about broadband speeds at all.

If you are sharing the internet, I would be more worried about the other users using torrents on max download and leaving it running all day - you will experience significant lag.

But yeah, online game does not use much bandwidth.

think I worked out I could play 24hrs per day for 17days before I reached my 10 gig limit

but that was based on 25MB per hour

I live in a shared house, we have wired internet (a modem with an ethernet socket on the back that I alternate between my computer and PS3 depending on which I'm using).

We have unlimited internet usage, but it's capped at 0.5 Mbps (), which although renders iplayer etc absolutely useless, I've not had any trouble with online gaming.

No lag on MW2, plenty of little green bars (like a signal strength thing - not entirely sure what that's even about but I think more is good?).

I have a friend (cough-cough) who recently went over their capping limit (100 GB) desipite being on an unlimited package. The bulk of that was FTP and a torrent trickle, 24/7.

The little bar graph on MW2 is to indicate connection quality, typically it will indicate ping time, or latency to the hardware hosting the game. Latency is everything on gaming, bandwidth requirements are very low.

Just to add to this I am almost certain that Utorrent and maybe some of the others use the same ports as either PSN or COD, i remember that whenever i had utorrent on i was unable to play online, that would mean you would have to tell your housemates to turn it off while you go online.... I can't be certain but it happended to me
