Have been playing online intensively since the weekend and was looking at my k/d ratio and realised out of all the deaths i had suffered not more than 2 or 3 where at the hands of a sniper. Are players not bothering with sniper rifles or have i just got lucky.

I get lots on the map with the big hedge in the middle and the one in the snow.
But it's not as bad as MW1.

I think you really need to know the maps before using a sniper class: exit routes, where to lay claymores etc

I've been using the sniper a lot recently. Got the thermal scope for it last night which is brilliant on certain maps!

The sniping class is pointless on some maps, but for the larger more open maps can dominate.

I used the sniper for the first time last night, didn't do too bad. I used it on the map with the hedge in the middle. Might have got a few more kills but there were points in the game where lag was unbelievable.

Think the way the maps are that snipers should be good .... one problem ..... I'm a secret John Rambo!

Wasteland always brings out a few snipers and maybe Afghan, but on most games I see at least one....but that might just be Adskin

Occasionally I try sniping just to mix up the gameplay, so which is the best sniper rifle?

The snipers seem to dominate the Hardcore games...and in MW2 there is only one mode at present.

Plus like many have said, a lot of the maps don't suit them. The fact that most of the maps have lots of variation on height and not a lot of clean lines of sight means that they have all traded there scopes in for noob tubes and P90s

I like the look and sound of the silenced 50cal, that one has capped me a few times in the Afghan level.....annoying, but at the same time it makes me want to get one!

All I did was snipe in COD4 but I'm running and gunning in MW2 until i know the maps - then it's back to my trusty Barrat!
