MW2 DLC... Is in the Game

Not confirmed for the PS3 but it is on the PC version, signs of a DLC to come - here's what it might have (Funny IW thinks that they can charge extra a month later for what they've already put on the disc... atrocious stuff :O )

Hmmmm interesting!

That’s right, there’s a bunch of things that were either hidden or removed among them 3 game types and a bunch of maps, killstreak rewards and other stuff.

Re: MW2 DLC... Is in the Game

It was weird.. played a game with the A2A boys earlier, and not sure if the rest of them saw it but as the match loaded the left where there is the picture of the map, was a like green and black checkerboard effect.

After a few seconds, it kicked us all out, and I got the error 'couldnt find zone' or something similar.

Maybe something to do with a new map it tried to load?

Ash

Since IW have already proved that its really easy to add new game modes (As seen over the weekend when 3 new ones appeared).. I wonder if the code for these 3 types of game (VIP, 1 flag and the other) are in the game, and they just need to trigger it from the play-list.

Perhaps they want to keep the game fresh by adding more playlists as we go and these MAY add new game modes.

Saying that.. If you remember back to COD4, new maps were found on the PC disk which never made it into the game. So its possible on the PC side they just bundle a lot of stuff which never actually gets used!

IIRC they designed the game so that they could add new playlists and tweak game rules without having to re-patch the game. This was the same in MW1. This also means they can run double XP weekends at the drop of a hat should they choose to.

Re: MW2 DLC... Is in the Game

Wow, have you read the rest of that website? Looks like some PC users aren't happy at all about MW2 and suggesting a boycott...

ModernWarfail2 » Blog Archive » WARNING to potential customers

Quote:
16.) You cannot change the FoV to a higher value without modifying the cfg file. The current FoV is set at 65 degrees which is highly uncomfortable for viewing at a close distance. As a result, many players suffer from motion sickness while/after playing this game.
This could explain why I can't play it for too long before feeling a bit queezy (but I could play COD4 for hours without any problems).

Quote:
22.) The game doesn’t support dedicated servers. This means you can’t have favorite servers where you get to know people and can instantly play the game in your preferred mode and with a preferred social atmosphere. For those who don’t understand, this simply means no server browser.
3.) Instead, the game utilizes IWNet matchmaking system. Players are automatically thrown into random servers, fighting against people they don’t know.
24.) The game runs on listen servers or p2p technology. The game is hosted by one of the players in the match chosen by IWNet. Due to home connections being very low in bandwidth, players will most often experience high pings in-game.
Heh, this is my biggest gripe with the PS3 version too. Seems like a backward step for PC users (it would have been nice if IW had gone in the opposite direction and scrapped P2P altogether).

Quote:
25.) Online play will also be completely reliant on the number of people playing at any given time. If no one is playing in your area/nation, IWNet will put you in a foreign room regardless of the ping level.
26.) The hosting player will also have a 0-ping advantage, their shots are registered faster, etc.
36.) All games will be un-admined, meaning no one can kick players from the auto-generated matches. This means that cheaters/hackers have a free reign. The anti-cheat system VAC is slow acting and cheaters might be able to develop hacks that are undetectable to VAC. No admins mean that the game is completely reliant on software to deal with the cheaters/hackers.
I guess this is something us PS3/XBox users are used to already... but it's still a pain.

Re: MW2 DLC... Is in the Game

I heard on a podcast that a Steam Group setup to boycott MW2 were checked out by an online PC Gaming website. They checked up on members on MW2 release day and 75% of them were all playing MW2

Oops! I guess it's highly unlikely that IW would ever reverse their decision anyway so it looks like we're all stuck with p2p from now on. Big shame.

I know that.. But its obviously more effective than COD4 as because back then there was clearly a limit to the number of playlists! If you remember when they added "Mercenary TDM" they had to remove another and there was uproar... So it looks like there was a limited number of playlists available and they never really did much to change the list of games which were offerered!

It looks like in MW2, they have the ability to add a lot more playlists.. And I just hope that they also include these new modes in new playlists!.. I want to play "Global Thermonuclear War"..
