wow, i can understand why they're angry though.

There is always some sort of backlash from someone about a game like this.

However the backlash comes from people who have never played the game, and probably never will.
We of course accept what we see and make our own moral judgement as to what is right or wrong, and the game even gives us the option to skip over this level if we so wish.

I take it on face value, that it's a game, it's not real, and that i'm not the type of person to walk through any airport and gun people down just because there's a scene in the game that depicts that.

Papers like the Daily Mail are scared of everything, the end is nigh, everything is going to give you cancer, the government are evil......and so on, well ok they maybe get it right once in a while!

If the Russians want to ban the game, let them..
I'm sure there will be ways round it for consumers out there to get black market copies, thus making the game even better for the ones that do have copies, and of course.......would you give your copy back if there was a recall on it? No. Me neither.

Surprised the yanks haven't kicked up a fuss actually, after all they are portrayed as war mongering meatheads who will quickly back stab their allies at a drop of a hat.

I do think the game is very anti-Russian though, I can understand why they would be upset about it. If the storyline had involved killing British troops in Afghanistan then I'm sure we wouldn't be happy about it either.

I can fully understand why they've done this. Russians must get sick of being portrayed as the bad guys all the time in films and games.

It makes a change it's usually the Brit's that play the bad guys, I guess the Yanks have decided to pick on someone else.

yeh the typical hollywood story line that even pops up in some of the great films and tv shows of today.
Good guys tryin to save the world = The Americans
The guy who does his/her best to stand in the way of the good guys = the Bad ass Brit.
It happens everywhere all the time, yet we have no problem with it . As someone pointed out in the quotes on the OP's link, in World at War the Russians were happy with blowing Nazi's away and in Modern Warfare (COD4) happy when they were helping the British SAS squadron rescue Nikolai and their country blowing away some guys on the ground. Second it hits them its like "O noes this can't be happening". I bet they didnt even play the game and see what it was like. TBH if anything it just shows that there are sickos in the real world out there who will gladly kill their own kind, russian or not, and not have a second of sleep lost the following night. But the end of the airport level, the russians attacked back, it only shows that the Russians are respected (and feared) if anything by the USA and UK and that the fact they are our Allies is a great asset to us .
