Abuse!!

Ok playing on MW2 last night plodding on with my extremely crap playing when I managed to get the final kill, only my third kill of the game

.

Next thing I was bombarded with abuse from the (American) player I had just killed, Im not just talking about a bit of sledging I mean full on "you ******* this and ******* that and your mother is a ****" etc etc.

Now dont get me wrong im in no way some kind of prude and dont mind swearing at all but when it is personal like that it makes me think twice about playing a game what is supposed to be for me a bit of fun.

Anyway rant over and maybe I should grow a thicker skin but never seemed to come across this when playing R2 or KZ2!

Its happened to us all mate, i usually just mute them. Though i highly recommend that you get the grenade launcher attachment and get a kill against them with that, ohhhh that just dont like it

Just do what I do mate. MUTE.

Whenever i'm on there's always some tool who joins and just taunts and mocks people (he's normally American but have known many rude boy geezers to do it too). As soon as one of them kind of people or anyone with music/mic interference turns up I mute them straight away.

Problem solved.

You are right tho there is alot more idiots on COD. Than what you'll find in most other online games.

abuse on ps3 is nothing compared to how crude it is on X-box live
some real cretins on there

also it's almost always americans who feel the need to be prejudiced and obscene online

I actually enjoy the abuse over the mic or via messages on PSN. Obviously means your doing something right

Sorry you had the displeasure of encoutering a git online, what a tool to get so worked up over it.

I don't really know if I've had abuse sent my way since I also mute everyone I don't know when waiting for the match to begin, still amazed how there isn't a "mute everyone who is not in your party" option.

Yep, I just introduce them to mute and block if they send me messages.

Only had 1 message so far, on the day of release saying I was a "crap camper" as I was defending our C flag on domination. I had obviously killed
him a few times

Nothing better then stabbing them in the back or blasting them into little pieces using the javelin to get some revenge

Take your revenge with a PM then add them to your block list.

I was playing the other night, and ther was a guy, username: Hilaho. Who was an absolute @rse, talking crap, abuse, didn't like getting killed, and it frustrated me. I know I could have muted him, but as annoying as it was, it was also funny. Stupidly easy to track the guy down using the internet, found his real name and alot if the forums he frequents.

It annoyed me though in that people have children who play this game online, and whether it's wrong or not due to the age rating, still shouldn't have to listen to that language.

Someone kept going on at me because i nailed him loads in every game we had. After one of the games he called me a F'in Twunt Camper my reply was simple I use your Mum's knickers for my tent. Funny enough he shut up then

You know what I do, go to options, put vioce voice volume to minimum.

best way, I can't be bothered to sit there listening to "tough guys", "rnb singers" "rappers" and people moaning.

and don't forget the "whistlers", "crisp eaters", "static/feedback", etc.

If you mute someone in the lobby then do they stay muted permanently now?

I have to say the abuse doesn't bother me at all, as someone said above, you know your doing something right if a little hate comes your way

Mute is always an option especially in MW2 as you can mute them in the lobby

I draw the line when I hear racist, sexual, etc abuse aimed at people purely because of assumptions made around their gaming names and wish there was a way in which these things could be reported as they have no place on or offline.

Yeah if you mute someone they stay muted in the lobby too.

I wish there was a psn option to mute everyone apart from people on your friends lsit, the way the 360 has.

That would make things much easier.

I know it ain't hard but it does my head in having to mute people all the time.

It bothers me because I don't like little kids trying to mouth off becasue they feel safe behind their screen.

Most of these kids online are arseholes.

Luckily in this game they can be muted in the lobby, cod4 was awful that you could only mute them in the game.

There was a news report on the radio this morning about online bullying so fingers crossed IW/Sony/whoever might take notice and introduce a global mute option for these games. It would be nice to have some sort of opt out for PSN messages too (ie. only accept messages from people on your friends list) to prevent spam and random abuse.

Yeah that's one thing xbox live has that is better than the psn, you can block all comms all together, or have it to friends list only.

I'd love that added to the psn.

Oh yes, the launcher really winds 'em up.

I was getting a torrent of abuse whilst obtaining the 20 kills I needed to get the next add-on. Even better when I put a grenade through somebody at point blank. LOL.

Everyone gets excited when playing, I swear myself, a lot, but not with the mic on - that's just rude... and if someone's guarding a spot or sniping from a position, just try to take them out, it's just a game after all.

The thing I find most frustrating is when network connections get laggy, i.e., when you know you've taken someone out but the software decides otherwise.

Such a good game though.

Theres nothing like a well thought out insult, and swearing is both big and clever. Abuse on the other hand is not fun. Other than the generally friendly banter in game on MW2 which i give as much as I get Ive only experience one case of personal abuse. Playing Motorstorm PR online and I won quite a few races in a row I got an abusive message saying basically I should get a life and stop playing MS:PR so much, cept he used much more flowery language
