Tuning old analogue STB manually

hi

new to the froum so hello 1st and foremost

I have an old analogue box which i've had for years on the old NTL and now virgin service and it has recently developed a problem or 2. when i switched it off at the plug at night, it used to take about 5 mins or so after powering on again, to recognise the channel list etc and show the correct time. however now when i switch it back on, it doesnt recognise the channel list and stays showing channels 2-99 but some have audio but distorted picture. is there anyway to tune the channels manually so as to restore the normal programming?

It is a General Instruments CFT-2100 box

thanks

J

Re: Tuning old analogue STB manually

Not sure if your problems are connected with this but VirginMedia are gradually switching off their old analogue networks to free up bandwidth now that Digital seems to be more or less universally available. I suggest you check with VM to see what is happening in your area.

Phone Virgin Media up and get them to fix your STB or give you a replacement. You're paying for maintenance after all.
