Smile 2 V+ boxes help

Hi

Just like to say the threads on Sky v's VM have some really useful discussion, so thank you. They have helped me decide to get VM.

I need 2 boxes for my house, and although I am not fussed about HD, the PVR facility is very important. If I got 2 V+ boxes, is it possible to transfer information from one box the the other? If I record something downstairs, is it possible to watch it upstairs?

THank you.....

Re: 2 V+ boxes help

Not with the current implementation of the software in the box although the hardware is capable of this.

Wink Re: 2 V+ boxes help

Is it possible to transfer data from the V+ box to say a memory card/stick etc so it can be transfered?

I think the only alternative is to record everything on both V+ boxes in case I want to watch it in bed!!

You could run coax from one/both V+ STBs to the alternative location(s) or use an AV sender, though coax is preferable

I'm not a technical person on this I'm afraid but appreciate any help you can give.

I know what a Coax cable is, but how do you attach this from the V+ to an alternate TV. Does the receiving TV need to have a V+ or VM box?
What is an STB?
If I use an AV sender, can you recommend one?

thanks in advance

From the RF output on the back of the V+ to the RF input on your TV*

Nope, as stated above, the coax just connects directly to the TV.

Sorry, STB just means Set-Top Box.

See here*

* If you receive 2 x Scientific Atlanta V+ and are planning to connect them to your main TVs using HDMI, there are limitations to the above. If you are using scart to connect instead or receive 2 x Samsung V+ instead (new model), then you will not have this issue

Re: 2 V+ boxes help

And just one more question, slightly related, I was told by VM that the install is £99 per box. Is it true that some people are paying half price for install by arguing a certain point (ie new customers / old customers get a discount on install).
I only have VM phone and BB.

thanks

You shouldn't need to argue, it's up on their website until 12th April. See here & here
