Question for Brett

Am thinking of ditching tiscali after years of good service with them purely because they havent unbundles my exchange, where as sky and talk talk have.

This means Tiscali are £10 more expensive than both Sky and talk talk as a result for the same service.

I also want Tiscali TV instead of Sky.

have rang Tiscali several times to get an indication of when the Exchange will be unbundled to no avail.

Is there seriously no place to find out the plan for an area. Sam knows website has no info. All I want to know is wiull it happen in next 6 months, if not I will leave and come back in a couple of years.

My exchange is Lytham.

Re: Question for Brett

Just a couple of notes, what are you comparing with sky? If its just broadband and phone, Tiscali generally come out cheaper eg:

Tiscali:

£15 - 8Mb broadband (unlimited)
£0 - Line rental
£5 - Anytime calls
£20 - Total

Sky:

£5 - 8Mb broadband (40Gb cap)
£10.5 - BT line rental (by DD)
£5 - Talk Unlimited
£20.5 - Total

Re: Question for Brett

Toasty,
they havent unbundled my exchange as a result I still pay £10 for line charge, hence my grumble.

So Tiscali is approx £30 when talk talk annd sky are both £20

Re: Question for Brett

I thought that as soon as I hit the submit button, sorry.

We could get the deal I mentioned back in January, we got postal / email notification when this became available to us, but can't get Tiscali TV as of yet. I assume you've tried here and it offers no help?

Re: Question for Brett

Yes, i go on Sam knows a lot. As im loathe to move ISPs when Tiscali have never given me probs. But if its not the best deal there is potetially a £120 saving per annum then its a no brainer.

They are all bad when it comes to customer service but being 200 yards from an exchange means Im rarely disappointed with my service.

But I cant justify staying with Tiscali just because theyve not given me any grief.

According to my information, your exchange has been upgraded to carry TTV.
Have you tried upgrading through the My Account area of the website yet?
If that doesn't work, try calling the sales team.
If that also doesn't work, we may still be waiting for the back end to be updated.

Re: Question for Brett

Thanks for replying. I try on a weekly basis to check through the tiscali website. I have also gone through the process of being told by the salesteam that I can have it, to only be told that I cant after going through the sales process.

All I want is a date so I can work out wether to stay or move ISPs. Anything longer than 6 months and ill simply take a 12 month contract with talk talk and come back to tiscali in a year.

Ill try the sales team again

Re: Question for Brett

Another Question, is it possible to get a written quote for connecting Option 2 Package with install/connection dates. I may be able to get my company to part pay as I use boardband for work on the days I work from home.

Sorry, no idea at all. You could call sales (freephone) and ask them.

Re: Question for Brett

Once the kit has been installed in the exchange, there are a bunch of systems that need to be updated with this info. Once this has been done the service is then offered out.

In truth, I don't know. I would imagine it goes through fairly quickly, however there can be hold ups. Sorry I can't be more specific for you.
