Two questions for you about tiscali tv

Hi I am an old homechoice customer and have a couple of questions for you knoledgable people.

1) Is there going to be any HD chanels on tiscali tv?

2) I have the old silver box though a scart to a sony 40x3500 lcd. I guess it is upscaling though the tv but want to get the new black set top box. Will the new box improve the picture with the hdmi input?

I have no information on HD products at the moment.

The answer on the Digital Spy forum seem to indicate that yes. However, Tiscali do not support HDMI at the moment.

Hello mate

I'm not sure where Brett is getting his information... There are plans for an HD service but it is at least a year away. Secondly, Tiscali supports HDMI just fine with the new Telsey boxes. The picture is marginally improved but still poor. Picture quality is the biggest problem facing them at the moment - it is nothing like Sky SD.

Yep I had my Telsey box connected via HDMI for a while, outputs at 1080i. Eventually switched back to scart due to lack of auto-wide and I needed the HDMI socket. Picture looks better in some respects but definitely more pixelly.

Actualy I do work for Tiscali, and although the STB has the capability, (and we know it works), Tiscali do not support HDMI (at the moment). This means the setup and use is not in the litrature and if you call for tech support with an HDMI problem they won't be able to help you with it.

It's in my Tiscali+ literature and works fine... They have even recently updated the software remotely enabling the 'sting' screen on the TV Guide Menu to stream the video in the full window at the top left of the screen when using HDMI. This was previously an issue for some time - now resolved.

Nice to have an insider to help out though - welcome!

Thanks for your info re Tiscali. But do you get more channels than freeview? Also is the Digital picture any better?

Yes you do get more channels depending on the pack that you subscribe to though... And no, the picture is worse with Tiscali than on Freeview.
