Tiscali TV Compatible Routers that will work with XBox Live

Hi everyone,

I'm a regular visitor to these forums, but this is my first post!
I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I have Tiscali broadband and was originaly using a Speed Touch 780WL Wireless router. I recently subscribed to Tiscali TV and unfortunately this router does not seem to be compatible with Tiscali TV.

Tiscali supplied a Speed Touch ST585 v6 to go with the Tiscali TV so this is the router I am currently using.

Now, while everything is working OK, the 585 does not seem to be as good as the 780WL when I connect my XBox 360 to it via wireless. The signal strength is good, but I have problems on XBox live such as lag, not being able to join matches and not being able to voice chat with people.
Non of these problems were apparent using the 780WL.
It isn't the NAT settings, they are open, and the problems are still there when the Tiscali TV is turned off.

So my question is, are there any routers out there that are likely to be better than the 585v6 and are also compatible with Tiscali TV?
Or, are there any other options I could try? I have been reading about the Belkin Wireless G gaming adaptor which connects to the 360 via ethernet and then connects to my routers wireless connection, would this be a better solution?

If anyone has any advice on this I would greatly appreciate it, anything that can help me find a happy medium with TV and online gaming

Are you sure the problem isn't related to the traffic management trouble Tiscali are having of late? I know ps3 users are having major problems.

Have a read of the tiscali forum and you'll see there are a shed load of complaints about it at the moment, and all you ever get told is that they are looking into it or that it's fixed! The continued complaints prove otherwise.

I'm a Homechoice user soon to be switched over to tiscali's network and loss of xbox live really would be the final straw,as it is i'm probably bailing out anyway due to the pages of complaints i've been reading.

cheers.

HI,

You won't get another router to work. The supplied router has custom firmware for the TV.

Yeah I think it's the service in general. I had this horrible problem of all Steam games lagging out right after connection, nothing I could do about it. Calling support line just went through all the "is the cable connected?" or "have you scanned for spyware lately?" , totally useless. Same deal with silver Homechoice box and the router that came with the Telsey box. Once I switched to Sky the problem went away.
