Wireless T.V. Transmitter / Receiver.

I hope that this post is in the correct forum, if not perhaps someone could re-direct me.

My question is :- I have Cable T.V. , is there any form of Transceiver that will allow me to connect the cable input directly into the transmitter, then connect the receiver to the cable box and T.V in another room.
Reason is that the Cable entry into my home is some distance ( in wiring terms ) from the T.V.. Line of sight is very small, but to run a cable across and thro' to my lounge would be a mess.

Re: Wireless T.V. Transmitter / Receiver.

The short answer is no.

The cable TV channels are spread over a large frequency band running from VHF and through the normal TV UHF band.

A transmitter which could send all these to a receiver plugged into your cable box would need to retransmit all these at once to the receiver which need to be able to receive them all at once so that your cable box could choose which one to use.

The best answer would be to put the cable box near the cable entry and then use a normal video sender to send the cable box output to a video receiver plugged into the TV in the other room.

The older Telewest/NTL boxes used non-standard infra red remote control so most video senders couldn't control them. However, none of the newer ones (e.g the Samsung V Box or either of the V+ Boxes ) have this problem so you should be OK.

A 5.8GHz video sender is less likely to suffer from interference from other equipment in the house but they tend to be more expensive than the 2.4GHz versions so you might want to see whether a cheaper one works for you - go to Asda, Tesco etc who won't quibble if you take it back rather than going to Maplin or buying off eBay.

Thanks for this - to be honest this is what I thought. The whole scheme is too complex and expensive so I have scrapped the idea .
