After doing some research I found out a few services that look interesting to me - mainly related to TV interactivity and household networking: 1) Each member of the household would have all their preferences stored in the PVR (favourite channels, shows, etc.) which would create their own personalised TV guide rendering "inactive" the rest of the content they are not interested in 2) Viewers building their own library of TV shows and movies becoming as common as creating iTunes music playlists 3) User programming rating and recommendation (for example, I could see the rating of other viewers on a movie which I missed yesterday but I am planning to see the "repetition" tonight) 4) A Smart Space Television, used as a media centre for sharing content amongst the household members - storing content or creating a link with other devices (iPod, MP3 players, cameras, mobile phone, computer, etc.) 5) TV content in 3D (movies, shows, etc.) Any comments on the 5 "ideas" above would be very much appreciated. 1. I like this idea - it would save trolling through the dross channels that I never watch but how would the advertisers on low volume channels take it?
2. Is that not just a subset of 1.
3. Another good idea
4. My Samsung does media streaming but I haven't used it and probably never will
5. 3D tv -
The main problem I can see with the above suggestions is it would have to be really easy to do or most users wouldn't bother
Best of luck with your thesis!
