V+ 1080i, Sony1080p LCD

Hi Thanks for looking.
Has any one had poor SD upscale picture quality with Sam V+ and 32" Sony HD LCD TV, 1080i to 1080p respectfully, should the Sony deinterlace giving good picture for (skysports)ours is no better than SD.

Also the V+ hdmi will not show on the tv hdmi device list therefore we sometimes lose the hdmi AV channel, most annoying if you are recording from that AV channel.
Thanx

Hi Welcome

but....

Not sure what you are saying here. The Scientific Atlanta V+HD box has IMHO and confirmed by innumerable other posters an excellent capability of upscaling SD to either 720p or 1080i but the Samsung V+ is so new that it is not possible to arrive at a well backed concensus although first indications (except yours) are positive. Assuming your LCD is 1080p (1920x1080) not (768x1366) then I would tend to use the 1080i setting. Using this setting by HDMI then sky sports on my 1080p LCD isusually excellent but it i (very good) SD - Sky Sports is not provided to VM in HD

Again not exactly sure what you are sayng as not personally overly familiar with Sony set ups but I can set my LCD such that it defaults at switch on to HDMI1 which is the HDMI from the V+ box. I set this up in my LCD and it is nothing to do with the fact it is a VM+ box. It could equally be a SKy+HD box or a BRDP or a £30 upscaling DVD playe.

Hi thanks for taking the time to reply.
Boostrail was unsure of the info provided, further to what was stated the native res of this Sony LCD TV is 1366x768.
The samsung V+HD is set to 1080i both connected via HDMI leads.
The second part of the problem, i am advised may simply be CEC device control the Sam V+HD does not have this control feature, do not Know if the SA V+ does.
Thanx
