Question Virgin Media Connection Quality without Fibre Optics?

Dear All,

Considering moving from Sky TV to Virgin Media, but we don't have cable in our area. Will this effect picture quality, broadband (O2) and BT phone connections?

Thanks

Re: Virgin Media Connection Quality without Fibre Optics?

AFAIK VM cannot supply TV if you are in a non cabled street. Similarly they cannot deliver their high speed Broadband services and can only supply similar speeds to BT, Sky, Talk Talk, etc. ( although round here O2 seem to do better down the copper wires) but none come anywhere near the VM 20MB cable service that I get. Their (VM) phone service should be the same on cable or otherwise and is competitive dependent on your phone usage profile.

FYI the fiber optic does not come into your house - it terminates in a box in the street and from there thick high quality copper screened cable is used. But the fiber optic is at max 60 metres away in my road compared with 6 km on poor quality copper to my local TX from where all other BB connections originate.
