Unhappy Tiscali TV, Im Worried!!

Hi, first let me explain where I am, I live in a block of flats VM is not in my area. Sky has only one RF feed into my flat and "my local installer" wasn’t exactly helpful. BT Vision seems pointless. So imagine my joy when I found Tiscali TV however reading through this forum my elation has slowly dwindled here are my concerns.

1) Id like to keep my own router, its a Cisco router and has been configured ideally to my network

2) there’s no hidef option but the sales team said it was coming shortly

3) There seems to be a lot of posts slating the picture quality is it comparable to VM?

4) Reading the reviews Tiscali are an appalling company. Can they really be that bad?

5) do Tiscali allow the use of their SMTP server?

Hopefully someone either form Tiscali or from the forum can spend some time and help me make an educated design I wont regret for 12 months

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Tiscali TV, Im Worried!!

Hi,

1) Id like to keep my own router, its a Cisco router and has been configured ideally to my network
The router we provide is 'bridged' to allow for Broadband and TV output, so use of your own router is not really possible

2) there’s no hidef option but the sales team said it was coming shortly
The EPG is HD, as for forthcoming full HD content, well I'm not aware of it as of yet.

3) There seems to be a lot of posts slating the picture quality is it comparable to VM?
We can only deal with these on line by line basis - localised set-up and the length of the line can be limiting factors.

4) Reading the reviews Tiscali are an appalling company. Can they really be that bad?
As above - we also have a lot of positive feedback!

5) do Tiscali allow the use of their SMTP server?
Sorry I'm not really sure I understand the question?

Post back and I'll pick this up with you again.

Best Regards

Chris

TIscali customer services are awful... cost a fortune. my tv hard drive is so noisy

I have been with tiscali for a few years and am only still with them because they are so much cheaper and I no longer have a bt line to change to talk talk. I find them very frustrating, and their customer services are awful, they cost me at least 30p before i actually speak to anyone, I have had a call which has cost me 15 quid because they took so long to try and resolve my problem. Just got a hard drive with tiscali tv and its really noisy too, trying to get out of contract now as cant bear the noise. I personally would not go with them again when I move.
