how to rf pay tv to existing aerial system

i have recently got austar pay tv and want to rf the signal to existing aerial system which already has an amplifier and power supply?i have tried using pal cord from rf output on pay tv box to splitter on aerial system and no matter what rf i put the signal on i cannot get a clear pay tv picture yet free to air is crystal clear....any ideas?
