Virgin NTL old box RGB OUT problem

Hello, I have an old pace NTL cable box which I use to get the virgin media channels. In the settings menu I can select RGB/Composite for the video. The problem is when I try to use the RGB setting with my av amp. The box has 2 scart outputs, one video, one tv. I have bought a Hama scart adaptor to convert the scart into component video/RGB. When I use the adaptor then try to connect it to my av amps RGB input there is no signal on both tv and video outputs of the ntl box. There is a switch on the adaptor for video in and video out and switching it makes no difference, I still get no signal! When I had the ntl box connected to my tv (scart to scart) it worked fine on the RGB setting.
Since I cant get it to work on RGB i'm using an adaptor to convert the scart to s-video and use composite mode which works fine but the picture quality is poor.
The video signal is then sent to my projector via hdmi.

Please can you guys help me out, I'm sure one of you's will know how to get the RGB signal from my ntl box into my av amp via the component video cable!

Thanks for our help and advice

Kevin
