Charter Cable HD Banding

Hi to all on the Forum. I have an issue with my image quality. I have a new 42" Viera Panasonic g15 Plasma TV. I have Charter Cable and I just hooked up their HD Cable Box (Scientific Atlantic 3250?HD). I'm hooked up via component cables. The picture quality is great and everything but there is one major annoying issue. The image seems to band. It's not static band or anything, the banding slowly moves from top to bottom in a continuous loop (the same way movie credits move, only in reverse). When the image is dark and black you can especially see the motion banding. When the TV is hooked up to the Blu Ray player (via HDMI) there is no issues whatsoever so is this a cable TV signal problem? Calibration? Please help, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Charter Cable HD Banding

Make sure the cable box and TV are on the same power strip, this can recude the earth defference which causes banding.

Thanks for the response Trollslayer. As far as your suggestion, all my components are on the same power strip. Do you think I should try to use a different set of component video cables?

Re: Charter Cable HD Banding

Hi ebautista40

As you refer to Charter Cable I assume you are in the USA. This forum is mainly UK/EU.
Whilst we use SA HD cable boxes here they are loaded with somewhat different firmware and are usually connected via HDMI ( Have you tried that?)

You will probably get more info relevant to your box and cable supplier by using the US equivalent forum.
