Digital Coax Interconnect – MPDI- maximum performance digital interconnect

(posted with permission of forums admin)

Maximum Performance Digital Interconnect.

High end cables without the high prices from Mark Grant.

A top quality digital interconnect co-axial cable manufactured using Belden 1694A Brilliance® broadcast quality co-axial cable.

This is an RG6 sized Precision 75 Ohm co-axial cable with solid core 18 AWG copper conductor, Gas-injected Foam High Density Polyethylene insulator, Duofoil® 100% foil screen and a 95% coverage tinned copper braided shield.

All cables are hand made to the highest possible standards using Canare specialist tooling for the cable stripping and connector crimping. The crimp tool has been calibrated to provide a crimp connection that is exactly to Canare specifications.
Caig products are used to clean and treat the core of the coax and crimp pin during the assembly process. Nothing left to chance, perfection every time.

Termination is with Canare impedance matched RCA phono connectors.
These are high quality crimped connectors, considered to be the best for digital applications. Also available are Canare BNC connectors at no extra cost.
(For use as SDI cables or with a DAC with BNC connections etc)

These professional grade cables offer a superb high bandwidth performance & a distortion free signal.

These cables will equal & in most cases outperform cables costing many times the price.

New prices updated January 06 - less range of lengths on the forum, but better prices

1 Metre £15
2 Metre £17
3 Metre £19
4 Metre £21

Prices include delivery within UK and include VAT , no hidden charges or extras !

If you require longer lengths, please order from my website.

I already have one of Mark's digital cables (earlier version) and it is excellent and provided sonic improvements over my previous cable which actually cost more than Mark is selling these for.

As someone who has regularly posted on 1694 on this site (and Canare plugs) , and even given away samples of this cable to forum members, I can fully endorse the approach that is being taken here. This is exactly how a digital cable should be made. As you see from the excellent prices it isn't expensive to do correctly either.

For those with 'exotic' hifi digital cables, you are going to be in for a shock, cables made like this WORK. Sorry vdh, chord.......(sub your favoutite here).

Well done Mark

I'm interested but have a question. I have either a choice of using one of these cables, 5m length( DVD under TV) with 1 m scart to TV or 5m scart to TV and 1m of co-axial to DVD in rack. 5m co-ax or 5m scart.
Kind regards
Phil.

Mark,

What other types of cables are you going to be offering?
Looking for component cables (5m) and possibly VGA cable.

Hello Phil,

I would say use 5 Metres of this coax, as I doubt you will notice much difference in sound quality between a 1 Metre or 5 Metre coax cable of this quality.

With a 5 Metre scart you will most likely see a reduction in picture quality compared to a 1 Metre scart, and a good quality 5 Metre scart costs more than a 5 Metre coax, so save some money and have a better picture.

Hope that helps,

Mark.

Hello Berry,

Component cables will be soon, a week or so. I am waiting for few reels of cable and a box of connectors etc to be delivered.

VGA would have to be 5 x BNC terminated coax, far too fiddly to solder 5 huge coax cables into a 15 pin D plug.

I think that I still have your address from the excellent mains cable that I bought from you so I will put a cheque in the post to you for another one metre digital lead and will donate my prototype to Taz's Christmas charity to be auctioned along with the DVDs.

A recommendation like that from The Beekeeper cannot be ignored.

Hi Mark,

Got and installed my cables, not had much of a chance to listen much but initial thoughts are that my sub seems to be producing better more controlled bass.

I'll make more of a comment when I've had a better chance to listen.

When are you going to offer some other cables, could be interested in a figure8 mains lead or 2 etc.

Cheers

Hello Whuff and Redwick,

I have sent you an email/message.

Hello Beekeeper,

I will edit the first post and add a nice picture soon, just did not have a good quality photo to hand at the time of the first post.

No orange coloured rubber boots/hoods on these, (not mentioned in the first post, as they are not used on this cable) as they don't improve the sound at all. Trying to keep the price down as much as possible, without compromising performance at all.

Cables that need colours identifying will have the coloured rubber boots/hoods such as component cables etc. (component very soon)

Mark.

Digital co-ax cable received the following day - excellent service.

What a difference this cable makes with improved clarity and detail - an excellent upgrade for not much outlay that I can highly recommend.
