Home Hub 2.0 and Wireless connectivity
I have recently purchased a HP G70-111EM laptop which has wifi b/g built in, and i have upgraded to the Home Hub 2.0.
This weekend is the first time that i am using these 2 pieces of equpiment together. I am able to browse the internet fine using an ethernet cable but having problems connecting wirelessly.
I can see the router in the list of wireless routers on Windows, then i try to connect and enter the wireless key and i keep getting this message
'Windows cannot connect to BTHomeHub2.0', then i click on diagnose problem and i get this
'Wireless association failed becuase windows did not receive any reponses from the wireless router or access point'.
so far, i have tried the following
1) changing the router settings from b/g/n to just b/g
2) chaning the channel
3) trying WEP security as apposed to WPA/WPA2.
i have tried connecting to my mates wireless routers (o2 and BT HH) and it works fine.
I also installed the CD that comes with the router and it connected fine but then after about 4 hours when i switched on the laptop again, it didnt make the connection.
im sure that the problem lies with the router....
none of the above work, please help/advise....

Re: Home Hub 2.0 and Wireless connectivity
Did you push the button on the router when trying to connect?
I had one of these routers and think you had to press a button on the router when connecting for the first time, if you read the manual it should be written there.

Re: Home Hub 2.0 and Wireless connectivity
That button has nothing to do with the WiFi.
If you can connect your PC at a friend's but not at your house, look for signs of electromagnetic interference and/or neighbours using the same WiFi Channel.
Try using something like Netstumbler to find out what WiFi channels are in use around you and chose one that isn't in use by your neighbours or (preferably) not even close to one in use.
Having chosen a Channel that is not in use, can you still see the HH's SSID? The default SSID is on a label on the HH. The default security is WPA (So your PC's WiFi adapter must be set to WPA.) and the key is also on the label.

Unlikely if you can see it's SSID, if you are sure that it is the SSID of your router and not a neighbour's?
Have you fiddled with the HH's settings at all, if so do a factory reset. (You may want to do one before you go any further anyway.)
Next, use Windows to set up your WiFi NOT any WiFi setup software that came with the PC nor the CD that came with the HH. When you see the HH's SSID in the list of available networks, you should click on it. Windows will then ask you for the key - twice.
Finally as a thought, as you have a friend with WiFi, see if their PC can connect to your HH.

i will reset the factory settings, and then un-install the BT CD software (whats the best way of doing this?)
and then do the above mentioned.

Re: Home Hub 2.0 and Wireless connectivity
I am having a similar problem mate.
My older laptop will not access any internet pages, keeps coming up page not found.
It finds the hub no problem, my mate took the laptop over his and it finds his AOL connection no problem and he can use it to browse. He brought it back over here and the same problem as before, page not found!
I have turned off the firewall and disabled the ethernet connection but still no joy.
Does anyone have any ideas.
I have been into my hub settings and it finds the laptop, also my other laptop works fine on this network via wi-fi.
I am well and truly lost on this one.

Re: Home Hub 2.0 and Wireless connectivity
This is now doing my head in, can anyone give me some help. The laptop finds the router but wont connect to any pages.
I hav disabled the ethernet port in windows and the firewall and I have disabled the firewall also.
Is there anything I should be doing in the Internet Protocol section?

Re: Home Hub 2.0 and Wireless connectivity
Still stuck, this will connect to my mates AOL and he can view pages. But it will not let me view pages via my BT home hub, the thing connects to it and they both see each other.
I am now desperate. Anyone any idea out there?
Cheers.

I had the same problem and although I could connect to the router. the router was not seeing the modem. So no Internet. I logged into the router manager and then hit the attached devices button hit the refresh button and bingo all done found the modem and all was working. I have a netgear router and a virgin modem. Hope this helps.
