Home Hub 2.0 power adapter recall.

All BT Home Hub 2.0s issued between July and October 17th 2008 have a potential issue with the power adapter(It can break in half when strained) that means they are being recalled.

You should shortly received a parcel with a new adapter and a return envelope for your old one.

There is no need to worry, but if you don't receive your replacement soon(just the adapter), and you received your HH 2.0 before October 17th you should contact BT and get a new adapter sent to you.

So far nobody has reported an issue, but Thomson say they want to be safe and are performing the recall.

Re: Home Hub 2.0 power adapter recall.

I have just been onto BT as my Hub 2.0 is resetting itself every 20 - 30 minutes. Apart from the usual runaround of it taking three calls on the mobile and numerous explanations of the problem I am getting a new hub on Monday or Tuesday.

I asked them about his recall and they knew nothing about it !!, I shouldnt be shocked as anyone who has had to deal with this lot will know.

Damn thing has now worked normally for the last hour ..

Re: Home Hub 2.0 power adapter recall.

I can upload a copy of the letter, it is lying around somewhere with the envelope for sending the old adapter back.

Personally I think the 'defective' ones look more reliable than the replacements, so I wouldn't be shocked if there was another recal in a few months for all the replacements.

How on earth could you tell that? They looked identical to me - apart from the green sticker. My understanding is that the only difference between the two is the way the casings are mated.

Im not doubting you at all !! .. it didnt surprise me that the Helpdesk (what a misnomer) didnt know. Took three phone calls to get a new Hub from them. I was wondering if the power supply was the cause of my Hub 2.0 rebooting almost constantly but I didnt think so. However about 10 minutes ago it died completely with all lights going out. I unplugged and re-connected the power supply and it turned back on okay so I am not so sure anymore. The supply plug was quite warm to the touch as well so I will keep an eye on it.

The one I got was entirely different to the original one. They look nothing alike, maybe they are sending out different designs, or maybe my original was a different design.

My replacement looks like a HH 1.0 plug but with the green sticker and the 'Only for Home Hub 2.0 type A' on it.

Nope it's a safety recall. Apparently the worry is that they will apart in your hands.

The replacement I got looked just the same as the one that came with the hub. Only problem I had was in trying to send back the original as requested - it is too big to go through post box slot.

Yes I tried three before I found one that it would fit. (One of those old fashion brass slots in the outside wall of the Post Office).

Re: Home Hub 2.0 power adapter recall.

I haven't sent mine back yet.

Strange that one of my adapters, either the original or replacement seems to be different, because there is no way you could confuse them, they are different sizes, shapes, and the lead even fits in a different place (one is top mounted, the other bottom mounted).

All of the HH Power Supplies that I have come across so far are identical. The only way that I can tell a HH 1.0 PS from a HH 2.0 PS is a label on a HH 2.0 PS that says words to the effect of "HH 2.0 Only" They all have the LV cable coming out of the bottom of the unit.

You can tell an original HH 2.0 PS from the new version by the green sticker.

BTW you need to decide which is which because this is a safety recall.

Re: Home Hub 2.0 power adapter recall.

I know which is the replacement and the original, the original is in the return pouch. I'm just pointing out that one of my original 2.0 adapter looks nothing like a HH 1.0 adapter, but the new 2.0 one does.

two year old just been electrocuted and burnd

Hi,

Yesterday my two year old son tried to pull the plug connected to the wall socket for home hub 2 and the plug fell apart and he suffered electric shock and burns to one of his hands. Fortunatley he is ok after check up at A&E.

Having contacted BT to complain about what had happened, all I got back was your hub is more than year old and no warranty so buy a new lead....I have only just renewed for another year about a week ago....Thinkin this should never happened I told the bloke in india and he didnt give a stuff....Its a faulty plug that has not been touched since plugged in a year ago and shouldnt fall apart....

anyway any1 got any advice on what to do next I just want people to be aware, dont want anybody else to get shock or burns as a result of this.....Didnt even know there had been a recall on it till I came across this forum, its obviously been a problem
