Leaving BT Infinity

I want to leave BT infinity.
Everytime I use a rival standard broadband line checker it says I have an un recognised product on the line.

Eg below from Tesco Broadband.

"We're sorry, we have detected that you have an incompatible product on your line.

You may have a product installed on your line, such as an alarm service, which cannot be supported with Tesco Broadband."

I have tried removing the front part of the open reach plate from the wall but this did no good.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

why would you want to leave Infinity ? The only other similar rival service is Virgin. (Yes Sky is moving forward with it as well now.)

If u dont have any alarms, CCTV or fax machines on your line then it's the infinity that's stopping it.

Infinity as you know isn't standard Adsl broadband and your copper cable only goes from your house to the cabinet then fibre to the exchange.

U are probably best calling BT so see if you can have ur line back to all copper if your leaving but the easiest way I'd say for you to is order a new line and broadband order.
Shop around as some offer free installation for new phone lines

They wouldn't work as you don't have an ADSL broadband line hence "incompatiable" problem. However why due to this do you want to leave infinity?????

You will not get speeds anywhere near what infinity gives you unless you go for vigins cable service.

There are retentions deals available for Infinity customers outside of their 18 month contract. Probably your best option.

It could be the infinity stopping you. I have infinity and my number comes up with the same message. When you leave infinity bt send an engineer to remove a few cables from the street cab so I cant see it being a problem.

I'll swap houses with you, lol, your lucky, I can't get infinity yet till BT get their a 's into gear and do whatever they need to do to get my area up and running, seriously tho.. I know it's a money thing but why go back to 'snail speed'? I am only getting around 3.20 Mbps, BT 1st said infinity will be available to me from 30th June 2012, now they saying from November 2012, myself I don't think it'll be till mid next year (and that's if I am lucky enough to get it in my area)...

Down at the caravan - on their wifi they have a page saying "Welcome to the Future of Internet", went onto a speed test of course.

They got FTTC, and the nearest exchange is in the next town (7 miles away) and the only cabinet I could see was about 3 miles away.

The speed is 13mb down and 2ish mb up and thats fibre for 4 miles then copper for 3 miles and connection over wifi wich is shared by approx 200 caravans. Pretty cool.

Have you had a look at PlusNet's Value Fibre package? It's pretty cheap.

try the following 2 alternative Fibre providers as Plusnet is owned by BT so i wouldn't go near a budget provider.

1, TitanADSL - Broadband at it's best, Fibre Optic Broadband, 20Mbs Unlimited Broadband, Complete Line and broadband packages and Web hosting services
2, ADSL24 - Broadband from 1 month contract, 24/7 UK support, Free migration, No traffic shaping or port blocking.

Smaller providers do offer better levels of support and they manage their networks far better and if you ever get into troublle they pretty much sort it.

The deals from ADSL24 look too good to be true, are they reliable? And how long are the contracts, as i couldn't find that info?

If that's a yes, then i think i'll be going there soon as my contract is up!

Cheers

I was with ADSL24 a few years back and that offer great service and lots of support too. I'd have no issue recommending them.
