BT Vision HDMI Problem

I have a few issues at the moment with BT Vision. Firstly I had it set up through the scart but the picture quality was a little suspect- blocky and pixely at times. Anyway I now have it through HDMI into a brand new Toshiba 37" Regza, was is full HD. I have the Vision box set to 1080I. First problem, I get no sound whatsoever through the cable. The only way I get audio is using rca cables. 2nd the picture quality is nowhere near as good as the intergrated freeview in the Toshiba. I have a brand new digital aerial as I live in a new build home, with a booster, and the freeview picture is 100% quality according to my TV yet compared to Vision theres a major difference. Football matches on Setanta look awful for instance.

The input from the aerial booster is going into the vision box, the output from the vision box to the TV so I can't figure it out. I emailed BT and they replied today that I must have a poor quality HDMI lead or a faulty one. The one I was using was a Philips one which cost about 35 quid. Anyway I switched it today with a QED one from my Blu-Ray player which is far more expensive and the picture quality is pretty much the same and its still not carrying any audio. I've changed the Vision settings to 720P and the picture is even worse so gone back to 1080. I've tried everything, switching off everything, taking the ethernet leads out, testing my internet connection etc.

Basically any help would be appreciated before having to call BT!

Re: BT Vision HDMI Problem

I have had a similar experience - Connecting aerial thru booster thru VisionBox into TV. The TV Freeview pic is noticeably better than the pic from Vision via HDMI. Vision pics are frequently blocky, pixellated and generally breaking up. Also lose CH5 and ITV quite regularly from Vision but they are fine from Freeview and analogue signal. Have also dloaded a few HD films and been pretty disappointed with the quality. The ondemand TV pics are pretty rough too although i have a fast and stable internet connection.
Have come to the conclusion that the Vision box is a pretty shonky bit of kit and will be buying a Freesat box soon. If i had payed for it i would be a bit upset but seeing as its free...........................

That is an incorrect conclusion. The DTB tuner in the BTV box is fine and the upscaler is one of the best around.

Try removing the booster, or putting it AFTER the BTV box.
