Xmas book recommendations

Always pick up a book or two for the other half for Xmas (fiction), but this year I seem to be finding it harder to pick them.

I have read through Amazon and nothing is jumping out as me when I read the reviews.

To give you an indication of her recent reads that she enjoyed (that may help narrow your recommendations):

The Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult

Any title suggestions? Thanks.

Something wicked this way comes by Ray Bradbury
We can remember it for you wholesale (collection of short stories) by Philip K Dick

All good all worth a read !

Blast from the past (1974!) - fantastic book - good hard sci fi / poke at the war in Vietnam - but not something I'd recommend to someones wife I didn't know!

'The Time Travelers' Wife (above) is more likely to hit the spot.

Re: Xmas book recommendations

I'm rereading (for about the 5th time) the Northern Lights trilogy. Been around a while, so she may have read them, but if not, absolutely fantastic. They are thought-provoking on many levels.

I read a lot, but probably my most memorable book this year was The Raw Shark Texts, by Steven Hall. Bit off-the-wall, but an excellent book. Although reading the reviews on Amazon now, it looks like a bit of a marmite love-it/loathe-it book. Have to say I'm in the love-it camp though.

Yeah she's not into SF, but didn't have the heart to tell you.

At least you took the time to reply. Thanks.
