So what Comics have you bought recently?

Catching up with some of my missing early 60's Daredevils, so added these to my collection this month.

I would like to buy at least FN (5) rated comics, but the first 20 or so can be a little pricey, so sometimes a reading copy will do until a bargain appears on ebay.

No 8 is a G+ (3), while No:30 and 40 are both FN copies.

Edit: Added them to the website instead.

Used to love going to comic mart's when was at school and college. At one point I had every Batman and detective comic going back to around 1962.

Now though I just decided take up too much room and get them in collected form

Everything new I get collected now that I want. I have most of the Daredevils, just missing some of the very early ones, plus a batch around 80 -100 - I think I have from 101 upwards through to around No 50 of Vol 2, when I stopped to get the GN's (which weirdly changed numbering at some point )

.....but these? He is still cheap enough for me to pick up very early editions at cheap prices, compared to a Spiderman, where I would need to be looking at issue 70+ to get the prices/grade my spare cash allows me.

Incognito Comics - Stock list

Plus, there is nothing better than the slightly musky smell of a comic that is years older than yourself.

Thats exactly how i felt.
Love seeng the list of wants decrease with the batman titles

I originally just wanted to get as far back as birth year (1976) but each mart i visited would see me get an earlier and earlier title

Also used to buy those mixed bags of "old" comics that most dealers have as starter packs. Even got some good rare titles that way.

Did have at one point full run of the first lot of teen titans comics. Guess they still in the boxes back at my mums.

Loved the smell and the feel and best of all i loved the ads. X ray specs and sea monkeys

I showed an early Daredevil in another thread that had an advert (66? 67?)for a real live monkey....not a spec of plankton like the sea monkey, but one of those ones that wore the hat.

Reading that back sounds very strange, as I doubt a monkey would wear a hat by choice, but you know what I meant. A snip for $19!

Can't you pop round to her and take some pics?

I can tell I will start working backwards on Batman issues myself - I will have to check, but I am sure my run goes from around 320ish upwards.

I will. Next time down there

Should be about ten full size boxes full down there some place

Some ( at the time ) quite rare stuff therr too. Modern day wise have the first few years of spawn in first prints ( which at time where much saught aftet ) along with first prints of star wars dark empire

Hardly any marvel as back then was a dc man. Had all the legends of the dark knight too

Used to get the comic book price guide each year and spend ages with highlighter in it.

I have a large section of Legends as well, and a few copies of number 1, as well as Shadow of the bat - one still sealed.

I also have Dark Empire, and I went through the 'Bad Girl' phase, with Lady Death, Shi, Dawn and another one who was really violent who's name escapes me. I did trade a load a way though, cashing in on their peak prices for other things. I still have the first few Shi, and some Dawn - Lindsner really can draw a lovely lady......

These are on my boy's bedroom wall. Couple of old Iron Man (#1 is the top left), Spider-Man and New Mutants with the first appearance of Deadpool.

Nice pics, good comics.

It does, however, remind me of Samuel L. Jackson's rant in Unbreakable though...

To add, not recently bought, but I have a full 1-200 run of Spectacular Spiderman - not sure of grades, bought them in bulk off ebay many years ago... I also have a full, complete set of WildC.A.T.S - back when they were Image property, none of that DC Wildstorm stuff...

Was nearly in with a chance to get a copy of Daredevil 1. Its on ebay, with an hour to go, and pushed beyond my cheeky bid. Someone wants it, as he has put a bid in that keeps increasing from a £50 offer to the £100+ that I went in with (which obviously the missus would be none the wiser off! )

Edit: It went for £150, but I bet there was still some room for higher incremental bids should I have put in for that. A bargin, worth double that easily I think! Maybe another time.

All these DC52 issues and sketch variants are all very nice, but to be honest, there are a few comics I still want to buy before I drop £100 on something printed this year.

So, a little guessing game for you.

I bought myself a copy of Daredevil 7 (first red suit) from 1964. These are all real comics from ebay and other shops, and the prices range from £60 to £100, and the conditions of these comics are from Very Good to Fine (approx 4.0 to 6.0). Just in case you want to know how much a NM version can go for, take a look at this:

Daredevil # 7 CGC 9.2 OWW Tough Book, 1st Red costume | eBay

Anyway, on with the guessing......

I'm a little tipsy (week off work!), so forgive me if I missed it, but what am I supposed to be guessing? If it's the NM copy, I guess image #4 (can't remember whether a dealer stamp lowers the grading or not, but some of those aren't even Fine)...

Edit: on closer inspection, the dealer stamp is irrelevant - neither of those with the stamp are anywhere near NM anyway!).

Edit 2:

Seems eyesight is the first thing to go! I guess #4 is the Fine copy then... Now if you'll excuse me, I'll take my tipsy arse elsewhere...

The prices of all of the comics above fall into the price range of £60 to £100, and I bought one of them, so the minimum I paid was £60.

I did

I did indeed take ownership of Number 4 of those above, and paid the bargin price of £60, in a sale at Quicksilver Comics. This was normally £120, and is a very handsome copy indeed, I should have shown the other copy of DD7 in FN condition - this had a massive fold crease down the front cover (sometimes grading confuses the hell out of me) that was going for £95 on ebay a while back.

Read it last night, and despite being a good few years old than me, its in better condition than I am.....

Accidently bought another bargin, £17 and is worth £40+.

Well, once you have spent most of your disposable cash on coke and whores, you need to waste the rest dont you?*

* I would like to point out that this is an expression used by a few people, usually in the context of "..if I won the lottery, I would spend most of it on Coke and Whores and waste the rest", not that that is what I personally do. Mostly because I spend too much money on Comics to do so.
