Just put in an order for Vols 9, 10 & 11. I had no idea Vol 12 hadn't even been released yet. I shall have to try and pace these out a bit more !

Still waiting for the TV series, or even a non-camera version of the trailer which is on youtube recorded by people at comic-con.

Worth checking if you've not seen it yet.

I hope around soon for real!

Non shaky crappy cam version of the trailer is doing the rounds now & can be seen here...

The Walking Dead Arrives On Halloween, Full Trailer Released - Screened

Due to start airing on Halloween & by all accounts thanks to Fox should be a worldwide release at the same time...I'm keeping a VERY close eye on FX on Sky at the moment for any hint that this is coming to us soon.

Neil

EDIT - Oh & Newman they are indeed the shizzle.
One of the best GN's I've ever had the pleasure of reading

They are bleeping superb mate. Dont rush through them, buy two a month, and just before you get the other two, re-read the previous two to draw things out. Thats what I ahve been doing

They arrived this morning, and I've already read the first one and halfway through the second one...

My initial thought upon opening the cover was "oh man, black and white? This is gonna suuuucccckkk....", but after a minute or so, I found that the story is so engaging you don't even realise it any more.

Going to have to order some more to keep me going, I think..... I don't think I'll be able to ration myself to two a month...

LOL Thank you

I've never ever looked forward to a TV series so much in all my life.
Apparently it all starts in November on FX
I WILL definitely make sure I have SKY HD in by then

Newman,

It is a struggle but one well worth doing...you'd hate to run out too soon I can tell you.
I tend to break mine up by re-reading the Marvel Zombies issues in between & also some older comics like the Dawn of the Dead & Night of the Living Dead adaptions.

Glad your enjoying so far

Neil

Yeah it premieres on AMC (USA) on Halloween then we get it here on FX in the first week of November apparently, so not too long after the Americans get it.

I wouldn't read too deeply into that. AFAIK they are going to be shooting straight through from one season to the next. All signs are pointing to this being a huge hit for AMC, everyone involved thinks that highly of the work being done.

Bought these on the strength of the views on here and was not disappointed. Best books I have read for a while. Could be an expensive habit!

Surely this many moderators can't be wrong

I've treated myself to this:
The Walking Dead Compendium Volume 1: Amazon.co.uk: Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn, Robert Kirkman: Books
and if anyone tells me that I've gone for the wrong version, it'll be headshots all round

Ermm... While there's no "wrong" versions, I tend to stay away from compendiums unless the series is complete and you know you can get all of them - otherwise you end up either having one compendium edition then a whole bunch of single-editions, or you're completely beholden to the publishers to print another one. With eight graphic novels to one compendium (in this case), and volume 13 only just being released recently, you may be in for a long wait for the volume 2 compendium edition...

(wow, how many times can you use the word compendium in one sentence without it getting really tedious typing the bloody word?!).

I agree with NewMan, but you do end up with the same thing at the end of the day, it just takes a little longer to get hold of it all, a lot of people prefer to get the compendiums - some people buy both to satisfy their needs.

In other news just over 2 weeks until the TV series

Cheers Newman - I'm not much of a collector, so once I've read this compendium, I'll probably switch to the normal volumes for my next fix and go from there.

Newman is right - some of us are a bit fickle with how things are printed - and like the hardcover versions of Y The Last Man, I stayed away from them as they where lagging behind the normal softback versions.

If they released them at the same time, there would be no problem, but it seems that in graphic novel form there is no proper order like how books are released (Hardback, large trade, normal paperback) they can release it, then go back and make more expensive editions after the fact.

Any body else find volume 12 to be a bit of a letdown? Seemed like it was just there to setup volume 13 without too much else of its own going on. On the other hand it looks like volume 13 could be quite interesting.

So much happened in the couple of volumes previous to that. I wasn't massively surprised it simmered down slightly. Had to switch to getting the actual comic books now as I can't wait for the volumes to be released

Monthly, and 73 looks to be the latest issue.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead

http://www.hiddenrobot.com/WALKINGDEAD/

I have been taking my sweet time over this, and have 6 and 7 in my reading list, sticking to my two GN a month, but only just. It helps that I read a previous one before I start on the other two as well.

I think I'm going to end up getting these at the end of the month. I was going to get the hardback 'book' but based on the comments above will just be getting the trade collections.

Depends what you want to do, if you like to read the latest one as soon as you can then avoid any kind of collective works in books.

I have the hardback books and they're still in their plastic wrap

If you want something that looks good on a book shelf and is more of a collection item then the books, but if you want to read and keep up with it then go individual. Or if you want the best of both worlds, then go for both!

The 12 GNs will cost you £120ish, so to get all 1st edtions will cost you £180 to £330 more.

Some Americans have the 1st issue for £500+ on its own....

Anything in a similar vein to this you would recommend?

If this takes it off topic feel free to delete.

This thread is for Walking Dead, but I am not going to frighten a new member off but deleting posts - take a look in this thread:

The Graphic Novels / Comic Books thread

..and look for Marvel Zombies and DMZ (similar vien, but no zombies) as well. I have not read either of them yet, but they are supposed to be good. Also, for another post apoloclyptic view, try Y The Last Man. That is good.
