Saw the posters in the Window of Waterstones yesterday.
The key on the front cover seems to have a freemason's symbol on it. Or am I confusing my symbols?

Hell no, not till it comes out in paperback. I refuse to fork out for inflated Hardback prices.

If I'm at an airport then yes - otherwise no.

I once made the mistake of reading Dan Brown in front of people I know - ended up with the illustrated version of the da Vinci Code for Christmas.

Well-known symbol - square and compasses. Chinese used the symbol for thousands of years to mean order and regularity.

Anyone know the cheapest place on line that ships outside the UK (Amazon is £9.49, but have to add £4.98 delivery)?
Over here it costs at least £16.

Its quite thick and heavy how much you think it will cost to send via royal mail might as well just plump at the £16 and get it it may be worth it

picked up the hardback copy this morning from Morrisons for £9.... bit more than asda and WHsmiths but i couldnt be arsed with the driving around for the sake of £4 when there was a copy in front of me. Not started it yet - it'll go to the back of the 'to read' pile.

Re: will anyone be picking up dan browns new book on tuesday

I've never bought a Dan Brown book before despite reading and hearing about how engrossing his novels can be.

So I was in Morrisons and seen this lovely and shiny new Hardback the other day and, after just finishing watching Angels & Demons a few nights before and enjoying it immensely, I knew I had to buy it. So I nipped round to Tesco and picked it up for £7. Brilliant.

Got started right away in the carpark outside the store. The pages kept on turning and the shadows in my car kept altering direction as time moved on.

I'm getting a massive amount of enjoyment from it.

I should add, however, that, owing to illness I've been unable to read novels properly for what seems like a long time to me and that this is the first book I've been able to pick up and devour since I went onto a new medication, so my opinion is obviously prejudiced by that fact.

But I've read other reviews of the novel online and they seem very positive.

Hope you all get the same amount of enjoyment out of it that I have.

Thanks

I got a copy last week but yet to start reading it. From reading a few reviews it follows the same formula as the other books.

I enjoyed the other 'Langdon' books. Angels and Daemons probably more than Da Vinci Code.

Also enjoyed Digital Fortress but could not get into Deception Point.

Re: will anyone be picking up dan browns new book on tuesday

Bought my copy yesterday and started reading it on the train. I've got about a chapter left to go tonight. Its a standard Brown page turner, very much in the Da Vinci Code mould. I'm enjoying it and so will my dad as he is a Mason.
Its fun trying to separate the fact from the fiction. Its not a literary classic but a decent way to while away a few hours in my opinion.

I also saw the "twist" coming a mile off

Re: will anyone be picking up dan browns new book on tuesday

Wow! You bought it yestersy and are now nearly finished it?!?!?!?!??!?!?...?!?!?

That's fast - really fast! I'm about 70 pages in at the moment and really enjoying it.

I guess it depends on how much time you spend with the book regarding how quickly you get through it.

But it just boggles my mind to think someone bought this yesterday and finished it the next day or the day after that!

Have you finished it now? What did you think?

Thanks

ps Are you a speed-reader? Can you take it all in if you rocket through the book like an Exocet missile???

Re: will anyone be picking up dan browns new book on tuesday

I had about an hour and a half on the train that day and I read for about 30 mins in bed and night. I do read very fast, on holiday I tend to do a book or more a day on a sunbed. At home I usually get through one or two books a week between working and the family

I did the last 2 chapters last night in bed. It gets a bit happy clappy mystical at the very end but I have to say i did enjoy it. My only real criticism is that its very similar to Da Vinci Code in storyline/plot

Still, 4.99 from Amazon in hardback makes it a nice bargain read

Well i finished it this morning.

Overall i thought i was a good book. Every well paced and full of the trivia, Which is something i enjoyed about the Angles and Demons & Da Vinci Code.
