Books you think are written to become a film?

I first noticed this type of thing when reading James Pattersons books years ago, they read just like they could be converted into film format with ease and was no surprise to see adaptations of his books hitting the big screen.

I'm currently reading Pandaemonium and experiencing the same thoughts, it reads like a British comedy horror film and can envisage an adaptation almost lifted straight from the book text.

Are there any books you've read that seem to be written with the big screen in mind?

I was reading "porno" ( the novel by Irvine Welsh") a couple of weeks ago and thought this would make an excelent sequel to "trainspotting" and then yesterday there was some news that it might actually be made.
So that's a book that i think would be great as a film. Would also be great to see Begbie again.

My fav Welsh book after "Glue". Juice Terry just cracks me up, who do you think could play him in the film?

To the OP's question, all of Matthew Reilly's books would make good turn your brain off action films but if I had to choose one it would be "Contest".

my favourite nutter ever. i knew a few lunatics just like him when i was a teenager. it is that realism that makes him even more chilling whilst still being genuinely funny.

I guess you could argue Harry Potter was always meant to be filmed.

It's well know that when JKR was inventing the characters for Hagrid & Snape, she imagined Robbie Coltrane & Alan Rickman playing the parts. (I wonder what would have happened if they'd turned it down).

Dan Brown's 'Da Vinci Code' seems to be written to become a film.

In fact, I get the impression it was written from the screen play! The whole book is structured to be a 'block buster' film.

I mentioned this in another thread

LEE CHILD'S BOOKS with his character Jack Reacher would make great films.

This was very visual in it's descriptions which probably helped, but i'm not sure that it was written to be a movie.....after the success of the first two though i wouldn't be so sure on the new one (not read it just guessing)

Read the Time Travellers Wife, and thought after about 10 pages, "this will be a film very soon".
