I am using Handbrake to rip my DVDs.
I am ripping into MP4 format and i get the option to rip a subtitles track aswell.

Now my questions are:

1. If i rip the subtitles track this way is it on or off by default and can it be toggled on and off.
2. More importantly if im ripping a film where there are only Some bits of the film in another language (like the Da Vinci Code where a couple of parts are french) is there a separate subtitles track for just subtitling the forign lanugauage parts and how do i tell which one it is?

Why don't you just try it out ? If you are ripping this as a MP4 you should be able to do so to your HDD and then you'll see for yourself.

cos it takes a long time to do a rip and i have about 25 dvds in a queue to rip :P

If you rip to an IPOD and select to have subs present they will be onscreen all the time

Whether the PSP offers switchable options - I don't know

im not ripping for a portable device, im ripping for use on my LCD tv :P

I'm pretty sure you cant toggle them on or off when using Handbrake

Are you using a Mac or a PC? there is another way to do it that doesn't necessitate Handbrake if you are using a Mac
