Re: Has Leon Been Deleted?

I believe so, it was always a poor Non-Anamorphic release. It started selling for silly money 6-12 months ago on Amazon Market Place and Ebay.

Haven't heard anything of a rerelease.

Re: Has Leon Been Deleted?

Be glad its deleted.

If it weren't you would have bought it.

Now you can buy the international version, its considerably longer and in my opinion a much better film for it.

Re: Has Leon Been Deleted?

Theres some second hand ones on play trade for £13 ish if you're desperate.

What has been cut from our version that the international includes if it's a fair bit longer?? I love this film, just wondered what I'm missing if cuts have been made.

The majority is Leon takes Matilda onto Jobs with him (i.e She helps him kill people).

It also delves into the relationship between the two much more, Matilda asks him for sex, which Leon then goes into his backstory as to why he now doesn't like to get close to people, which was also how he became an assassin.

The uncut version is 30 minutes longer than the US cut. And it is a much more complete film.

For example in the original version when she goes into the police building with the bag full of the explosives, it was seen as harmless, in the international version its much more sinister, as you know what she has been doing in the last few weeks and that she fully was intending to kill them all.

The scenes were all cut because the releasing company in America felt the contents including a 12 year old girl killing people and offering sex with a 40 something was way too taboo.

Thanks for that, sounds like I need to see the uncut version. Sounds much better! Didn't realise it was cut so much.

Re: Has Leon Been Deleted?

Here is a list of all the different versions on DVD

Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - Leon AKA The Professional (1994)

I myself bought the Korean Anniversary edition version, as at the time it was the only release available, and it also had DTS sound.

I bought it alongside Cliffhanger which was also uncut with DTS sound.

I can't for the life of me remember the website I bought it from.

But it seems the US has released the international cut now, and as superbit too.

Re: Has Leon Been Deleted?

I bought the R1 version when it came out. It was soon deleted as the sound was faulty and had no rear sound. I got a replacement and has always been pleased with the picture quality. I recently tried watching it again upscaled for the first time and it looked awful. I couldn't watch it anymore.

Can somebody post a link to Leon Uncut that doesn't have a shipping charge added to it? Quite cheap? With a good picture?

Blu-ray.com - Léon Blu-ray Review

the way this sounds it's like the menu's are either english or ingerman but easy to navigate.

I have the integrale version as well the longer cut is far superior to the us release.

So the Blu Ray is also 24 minutes longer than the UK DVD version?

And that reissued initial release (06196) has better sound than any of the subsequent Deluxe DVD releases. I know, I have both and I cant give up that initial releases even though it has less extras.

Whhooooa! I love this film, its one of the few I don't own on DVD, but now you tell me there is an extended uncut version - its got me wanting to buy it ASAP, would love to watch it in a different version and in BD.

Thanks for the info.

BTW - for anyone who loves this film and the story it tells, may a recommend you try to watch Ghost Dog. A great film in it own right, but basically a rip off of Leon.

I would not say it is cut (in a BBFC kind of way ) more really down to the long running time which could not be seen in some cinemas like UK and US etc.

"A longer director's cut, retitled 'Leon: version integrale' was released in French cinemas on June 26, 1996. This version is 26 minutes longer than the previously release version and features all sequences that were removed from the film after the disastrous tests with L.A. preview audiences. This version of the film is available on various DVDs, and is usually called the 'International Cut'."
